CinEast Festival

CinEast Festival The 19th edition of CinEast will run from 9 to 25 October 2026. So tick your favourites and enjoy!

Each October, the wonderfully international Luxembourg finds itself in the midst of the atmosphere of the region that is still dealing with the burden of its communist past and difficulties of transformation, discovering the works of talented filmmakers from Central and Eastern Europe. It is not easy for them to conquer the local screens and CinEast (ciné-East) is here to help them. Be it fiction,

documentary or animation, long or short, sad or funny, psychological or psychotic, arthouse gems or wider audience treasures - CinEast takes the best of it all and offers something to please every film fan. With dedicated cinephiles from the participating countries contributing to the programme, the selection is as genuine as it can be. This is not all though - there are also concerts, exhibitions, culinary soirées, ciné-debates and encounters with numerous guests and some thematic evenings too. CinEast Festival brings the best of Central and Eastern European cinema (and culture) to Luxembourg. Save the dates of the 18th edition (10-26 October 2025) and follow the festival website www.cineast.lu for details! CinEast festival is organised by the non-profit association CinEast asbl.

🎭📚 This Monday, the “Art & Poetry Talk in Time of War” took place at Cercle Cité with our director Radek Lipka among the speakers.

The discussion brought together filmmakers, producers, writers, curators and cultural professionals to reflect on the role of culture in times of war, particularly the current war in Ukraine – how art preserves memory, amplifies voices, fosters international understanding and helps sustain resilience in the face of adversity.

💙💛 We were glad to reconnect with our friends Iryna Tsilyk, whom we welcomed at CinEast in 2023 with "Rock. Paper. Gr***de.", and Marion Guth from a_BAHN, a former member of our International Jury. We were also delighted to meet writer and artist Irena Karpa and curator Marta Czyż – all deeply committed to supporting Ukraine through their artistic and cultural work.

📖 The evening concluded with poetry readings by Luxembourgish journalist, activist and film producer Philippe Schockweiler.

As a long-standing partner of UA Days in Luxembourg we are proud to support initiatives like this one that create space for meaningful dialogue and highlight the vital role of culture in fostering resistance, resilience and solidarity.

🙏 Thank you to the organisers, speakers, partners and everyone who joined this important conversation.

🎬 We are proud to have been a partner of the UA Days in Luxembourg festival since its very first edition, and this year also to contribute beyond the film screenings.

Our director, Radek Lipka, will participate in the upcoming "Art Under Fire" (Art & Poetry in Time of War) discussion on Monday, 8 June, at Cercle Cité.

The panel will bring together remarkable voices from cinema, literature and the arts, including filmmaker and writer Iryna Tsilyk, whom CinEast welcomed in 2023 with "Rock. Paper. Gr***de.", and producer Marion Guth from a_BAHN, a former member of our International Jury. Other participants include Irena Karpa, Ukrainian writer, musician and public intellectual, and Marta Czyż, Polish art historian and independent curator.

Join us for a conversation on the role of culture, storytelling and artistic expression in times of conflict – and on how art can become a powerful force of resistance, resilience and hope in the dark times Ukraine is currently facing.
