The photographer and video artist Lisa Matthys is a part of the group show 'Chasing Flowers' in WARP, Sint-Niklaas (Belgium). Here is a few words from the exhibition curator Stef Van Bellingen on Matthys' video installation "The Survivor".

"Lisa Matthys’ strong social commitment translates into video work, photography and documentaries in which children often play a starring role. In this way she denounces different political and/or social contexts. research into children playing produces very authentic images from all over the world: the streets of Palestine, the vast nature of Iceland or the districts of Brussels. Matthys succeeds in making her camera itself part of the game."

Matthy's confronts us with a reality beyond our eyes.
The show runs until 11.10.2020.

Anni Leppälä´s works can be read like poetry. Her motives derive from memories, loss, longing and early adolescence, seeking for an experience of connection and closeness but also the act of recognizing something vaguely familiar through the images. Things are often veiled, hidden or turning away, but are in their own sphere of intense, remote closeness.
Anni Leppälä (b.1981) lives and works in Helsinki.

Works:
Drawers, 2012,
Fence (Wind), 2013.

Colors dance in harmony on the canvas of Frank Jons and they hypnotise you as you perceive various layers beneath. They remind me of traditional Turkish art of marbling and the traditional Japanese drip paintings, which also inspired artists like Jackson Po***ck.
Born in 1964 in Boulogne-Billancourt (France), Frank Jons has been living and working in Luxembourg since 2001. A trained accountant and finance specialist, he decided to make his childhood dream come true and devote his life to painting in 1996. A defining moment in his artistic development was the retrospective exhibition of Maurice Estève at the Grand Palais in Paris in 1986. Whether Matisse, Van Gogh, Debré, Alechinsky, Rothko or Soulages – Jons absorbed art, but it was colour that got him hooked. In 2008 he won the Pierre Werner Prize, which launched him on the local scene. Since then, through a succession of solo shows, the public subsequently discovered his instinct-driven paintings where the colour seems to burst forth from the canvas.
