Rugpjūčio mėnesį bažnyčia dirbs:
Darbo dienomis 16.00-20.00 val. • Senoji Zapyškio bažnyčia – viena seniausių gotikinio stiliaus bažnyčių Lietuvoje, pastatyta XVI a.
• Legendos pasakoja, jog dabartinėje bažnyčios vietoje kažkada buvo senovės lie
tuvių šventykla su akmens aukuru.
• Iki Antrojo pasaulinio karo bažnyčioje stovėjo trijų barokinių altorių ansamblis (17 a. pr.), medinė renesansinė sakykla (1581 m.), didžiajame altoriuje kabėjo net du stebuklingais laikyti paveikslai, kurių vieną, pasak legendos, čia atplukdė elnias ant savo ragų. pradžioje iš tikrųjų kabėjo medinė drožinėta briedžio galva su tikrais ragais.
• Bažnyčioje taip pat buvo išskirtinės konstrukcijos 105 cinko dūdų vargonai, vadinti Lietuvos vargonų karaliais, kurie galėjo būti sumontuoti 16 a. Juos puošė karaliaus Dovydo bei grojančių angelų skulptūros, judėjusios instrumentui grojant.
• 1992 m. Jono Krikštytojo bažnyčia restauruota ir, pagal senus 20 a. pr. žemėlapius, atkurta senojo Zapyškio miestelio aikštė.
• 2020 m. po kelis metus trukusios rekonstrukcijos šventovė buvo atidaryta ir kviečia lankytojus į įvairius kultūros renginius, parodas ir ekskursijas!

• The Old Church of St. John the Baptist is one of the oldest Gothic churches in Lithuania, built in the 16th century.
• The legend says that the present site of the church once was an ancient Lithuanian temple with a stone altar.
• Until the Second World War, the church housed an ensemble of three baroque altars (17th-18th century), a wooden Renaissance pulpit (1581), and two magnificent paintings hanging on the high altar. The one, according to legend, was brought here by deer on its horns. In the church near the organ in the early 17th century actually hung a wooden carved moose head with real horns.
• The church also had the pipe organ with 105 zinc organ pipes which was unique for exceptional construction installed in the 16th century and was called the King of the Lithuanian pipe organs. They were decorated with sculptures of King David and playing angels moving while the instrument was playing.
• In 1992 the church was included in Lithuanian Cultural Heritage Registry.
• In 2019 The Old Zapyškis Church has been restored and, according to the maps of 20th century beginning, the square of the old town of Zapyškis has been restored.
• In 2020 after several years of reconstruction, the sanctuary was opened and invites visitors to various cultural events, exhibitions and excursions!
