🪨 Ukrainian artist Andrii Fisher exhibition “The 15th Stone of Ryōan-ji Garden”🪨

This exhibition explores the concept of “beginning,” inviting viewers to reconsider it not as a specific moment in time, but as a state in which the boundaries between material, action, and phenomenon dissolve. The title is inspired by the famous Zen rock garden in Kyoto, where one of the fifteen stones always remains invisible from any single viewpoint. This idea becomes the foundation of the exhibition – a reminder that any process is, in essence, impossible to fully grasp.

Exhibition will run till May 1, 2026. Admission is free, by prior arrangement.

Tomorrow (2026.04.02) at 7:00 pm, the solo exhibition of Ukrainian artist Andrii Fisher , “The 15th Stone of the Ryoan-ji Garden,” will open at Gallery T.2 (Titnago St. 7, Vilnius).

Fisher’s practice moves away from the traditional concept of the art object and focuses instead on process. The works presented in the exhibition function as traces of events - forms that remain after an action has taken place, whose meaning emerges only through interaction and disappears once the action is complete. The exhibition reveals the evolution of the artist’s practice – from attempts to capture the underlying structures of reality to a performative approach to painting, where not only the image but the act itself becomes essential. Materials and tools operate here as neutral elements, while the artist becomes an instrument that allows the process to occur.

The 15th Stone of Ryōan-ji Garden
Andrii Fisher

The exhibition explores “beginning” not as a moment, but as a state where material, action, and phenomenon dissolve into one process.

Referencing the Zen garden of Ryōan-ji—where one of fifteen stones always remains unseen—the project focuses on what escapes perception. Fisher’s works are not images, but traces of actions: residues of events that have already occurred.

Painting here is not representation, but process. Meaning is unstable, temporary, and emerges only through interaction.

Opening: April 2, 19:00
Exhibition dates: 2April — 1 May 2026

“SOUL / ASH”, 2025

glass, metal, organic material

“Soul / Ash” emerged from a direct encounter with M. K. Čiurlionis’s memorial at Rasos Cemetery in Vilnius. Flowers collected from the composer’s grave were thermally pressed between two blue glass panes — a gesture through which living plants, symbols of memory and tenderness, transformed into ash.

This herbarium-ash becomes a metaphor for life’s cycles, transformation, and the quiet inevitability of time, while still holding the trace of presence and remembrance. The blue glass evokes the depth, calm, and infinity of the sea — a spiritual atmosphere resonant with Čiurlionis’s music.

The work invites reflection on fragility, the shifting states of matter, and the forms memory takes as it endures.
