St. Michael’s Cathedral (Sobor) in Kyiv, .
For some reason, I keep finding blue and yellow in Ukrainian architecture and those colors fit together so nicely.
All I can say is it’s so unfair there is so much beauty in the world that we risk losing and lose everyday because of the war. People build and create, pouring their souls into their creations — yet in minutes, all could be lost. It’s insane, it’s wildly unfair.

Annunciation Cathedral in Kharkiv, . I was breathtaken when I first saw it reading about the news about the war. Beautiful sobor, beautiful city that didn’t deserve what happened to it.
It still stands but it hurts me thinking we could easily lose beauties like this one in the war.
On a brighter note, drawing orthodox churches is a different kind of pain - they are so ornate and detailed and capturing their beauty takes a lot of patience. And to think someone actually built it, brick by brick, window by window - it’s just incredible what we as the human race are capable of.

Belltower of the Assumption Cathedral in Kharkiv, . It was hit just a few days ago.
I find it hard to find the right words to express myself - I always relied on my art for it. War is hell and I struggle to escape the anxiety I feel living in Eastern Europe. Drawing gives me a few minutes of peace even if the subject is serious or grim. I only hope my art will inspire hope in others. Beauty - in all its forms - is worth fighting for.
