YEALA, Lofa County — Hidden among the landscapes of northern Liberia, ancient walls, nine tunnels, historic creeks and stories of seven warriors have endured for generations. Now, a new effort is taking shape to preserve that history and bring Yeala’s heritage to a wider audience.

Plans for Yeala include preserving the ancient double wall and gate, conducting archaeological and geological surveys of the nine tunnels, and protecting the Ancient Warriors Creek and Yeala Creek.

The proposed development also includes a museum, monuments honoring the seven ancient warriors, a visitor and tourism information centre, an open-air venue for traditional festivals, a guest house, and a traditional arts and crafts market and training centre in Fissebu.

How well do you know the Liberian flag?

Eleven stripes. One blue square. One white star. Each carefully placed to form the Lone Star we proudly call our national flag.

Every August 24, Liberians pause to remember the first unfurling of our national flag—a powerful symbol of our identity, unity, and shared history.

As Liberia celebrates Flag Day, the Liberia National Tourism Authority (LNTA) and the Ministry of Education are joining efforts to help Liberians reconnect with the national flag and deepen their understanding of its history, meaning, and significance.

Through this joint civic awareness campaign, we will share stories and information that strengthen national pride, promote civic consciousness, and connect our heritage to future generations.

Experience Liberia like Wodemaya, and you too will have plenty to say. Like Calypso Rose, he captures the experience and tells the story.

Good people.
Great energy.
Incredible places.
Tasty food.

And most importantly, stories worth sharing with the world.

Thank you, WodeMaya, for experiencing Liberia and helping tell the Liberian story to the world. 🇱🇷
