Red Hill Field Community Leaders Declare "No Confidence" in Chairman Jerry Yarkpah
By: Gabriel Snotweh Blamo
LOWER VIRGINIA, DISTRICT #17 – The leadership of the Red Hill Field Community has been plunged into crisis as a two-thirds majority of the Executive Committee issued a scathing vote of no confidence against Chairman Jerry W. Yarkpah, accusing him of autocratic rule, financial mismanagement, and systemic failure.
In an official press release issued today, May 15, 2026, the majority bloc of elected officials took the unusual step of publicly apologising to residents for a "year of failure," placing the blame squarely on Mr Yarkpah’s leadership style.
The executive members admitted that after one year in office, the administration has failed to deliver on nearly all its core promises. The leadership cited a lack of development initiatives, the failure to distribute a community constitution, and an inability to improve local living conditions as "sources of great embarrassment."
"We acknowledge that we have failed to achieve many of the goals we set," the statement read. "These shortcomings are a source of great concern... and we hold Chairman Yarkpah primarily responsible.
The majority bloc leaders allege Chairman Yarkpah has engaged with concession companies—including Liberty Investment, Morning Dew, Delta Water, and United Industry—without transparency. They claim these companies have withheld Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) because Yarkpah reportedly told them he "alone controls all community affairs."
Financial Exclusion: The majority bloc claims community funds have been handled without the knowledge or consent of the Financial Secretary, with Yarkpah acting as the sole signatory on transactions.
Constitutional Abuse: The Chairman is accused of hijacking the roles of other elected officials and using their titles to secure personal benefits without their consent.
The Executive Committee also raised alarms over a perceived conflict of interest, noting that Mr Markpah currently holds four major leadership positions simultaneously:
1. Elected Chairman of Red Hill Field Community
2. Councilman of Red Hill Field
3. Councilman of Ward One
4. Chairman of the Virginia Township Council
The majority bloc argues that this "accumulation of power" undermines effective governance and prevents the Chairman from being accountable to the residents of Red Hill Field.
Ultimatum and Suspension
The crisis reached a breaking point on May 7, 2026, when the committee formally requested Yarkpah’s resignation from his community post. According to the release, the Chairman ignored the request and instead responded with "threats and intimidation."
Effective immediately, the two-thirds majority has declared a *Vote of No Confidence*. They have issued a public notice advising all residents, stakeholders, and business entities to suspend any official dealings with Mr Markpah regarding community matters until further notice.
As of press time, Mr Markpah has not issued a formal rebuttal to the allegations. The Red Hill Field Community now waits to see how this internal power struggle will impact local governance and the pending agreements with industrial partners in the region.
