It’s abnormal how we compare uprising in a small space like Gbarnga to that of the once in the nation’s capital and even expecting them to perform well and getting to spotlight daily when they locked so many things here as an uprising artist.
Being an uprising is something difficult all by itself and not talking bout residing in an area with LIMITED EXPOSURE, LOCK OF RESOURCES, SMALL AUDIENCE, FEWER NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES and most importantly a LESS MEDIA ATTENTION.
Our artists here will definitely face difficulties getting when there are fewer performance venues, festivals or smaller events to showcase their talents. They have also been faced with no chance to learn from or be Mentored by more experienced artists or even like the once in the nation’s capital coming to spotlight every year.
The opportunity of meeting collaborators, local producers, Bloggers, and even other artists for maybe a verse that could give your project a little recognition is on the increase in the capital and not here in Gbarnga that you trying to compare uprising artists with the guys out there.
For them, the opportunity is given and only left with consistency and making use of them.
How many times our artists here are being interviewed on air, press coverage or any content group like the BIG 3 or the ERA OF LIBERIA? Let’s maybe talk about how many of those content creators with a good number of Facebook and TikTok followers visit here to give uprising artists the privilege to display what they got or how many of them even based here . Many good artists in Gbarnga I know have had issues with traveling to the nation’s capital to meet good producers, shows, promotions even when the opportunity is given. They locked the resources and yet tried their possible best to maybe record 3-4 songs in a year and when they do, to promote their songs become a problem, not from them but where they stayed.
All we can do is to keep supporting them till their time can come cuz the music it’s is TIME . It’s not easy being an uprising artist especially in B**g county.
