You’ve probably heard it a hundred times — ‘Get a pleco, they’ll clean your tank!’
Well… not exactly. Sure, they’ll eat algae off your glass, but guess what they leave behind?
A masterpiece of p**p — everywhere.
Plecos are like the janitors who clean the walls but dump the trash in the middle of the floor.
They’re great at what they do, but their digestive system? Let’s just say it’s enthusiastic.
Big plecos especially — they’ll eat nonstop, and what goes in, must come out.
You’ll think your tank’s sparkling… until you notice the trails of “creative expression” along the substrate.
So yes, plecos help with algae — but if you think they’re the solution to cleaning,
you’re really just hiring an artist who specializes in… organic decoration.
