I grew up in the city, but always wanted to do something by the sea its quiet, its pace, its promise. Maybe it was just Outer Banks.

Quit everything that I was doing and with the limited money we had, we went for a good old hunt for places in the South. We stayed for weeks, literally waking up every morning and saying, “Okay, who do we talk to today?” We walked everywhere.

Talked to everyone.
Some conversations lasted a few seconds, some lasted hours, some were with people we still keep in touch with today.
We saw so many spaces. Some were way too big. Some were falling apart. Some were priced like they were made of gold. Some felt wrong the second we stepped in.

On the very last day of the hunt where I was convinced that it’l all just stay a dream, I was chatting with a tuk driver and ended up meeting the sweetest man ever and he had this spot.

It was tiny, when I say tiny I mean TINY! Literally used as the entrance hallway to his hotel next door, but the moment we stepped in, we fell in love with this tiny little hallway.

We confirmed it, signed the deeds shortly after, and even today it still feels some sort of way.

The next month and a half humbled us in ways I can’t even explain. We had no idea what we were doing.
We worked in the heat, messed up measurements, bought the wrong tools, redid things, learned things, googled things we’re embarrassed to admit.

And when the space felt impossible to plan, nivahana kept it all together. She made sense of a room that barely had space for two people to stand without bumping into each other.

It was humbling. Really humbling.

When everything is new, the people, the town, the process - you learn to rely on kindness more than you expected.
And trust me, we were shown kindness in every direction.

After all that, this is where Pablo’s stand now - we have a looong way to go but very glad you’re part of the journey!

What you want to know is that you don’t build a place “alone”. You don’t grow alone and most importantly trust the place you’re in a little more than your fear.

And yes! That’s Pablo and Charlie our managers! :)
