A mandatory appreciation note,

Behind "The Wild Duck," there was a large network of support, without which the production would not have been the same. So, we'd like to thank them because it is our duty and because we genuinely appreciate your positivity and encouragement.

First, we would like to thank Mrs Uma Jayasekara, our dearest former teacher-in-charge for English Drama at Sanghamiththa Balika Vidyalaya, for all that you have done for us! Being able to be there for you and Indusara this way makes us really happy, and we wish you strength!

Our immense gratitude also goes to Mr.Indunil Wannakukorala, who immensely supported not only this cause but also helped us grow and foster ourselves in stagecraft from the very beginning. Thank you for encouraging us to think outside the box and making us continuously challenge ourselves as performers.

We fondly acknowledge our alma mater, Sanghamiththa Balika Vidyalaya, for making us who we are today. We would also like to thank the Madam Principal, Mrs. Chandanie Udukumbura, Deputy Principals, Vice Principals, and teachers in charge who supported us immensely, encouraging your students and providing us the facility to rehearse.

We are so very thankful to the former Madam Principal of Sanghamiththa Balika Vidyalaya, Mrs. Saraswathy Dahanayake , and our dearest teachers Mr. Sri Lal Maddekanda, Mr. K.K.S Dilhan, Mrs. Lilani Bandaranayake, Mrs. Gauri Kathyana, Mrs. Geethanjalie Weerasekara, Mrs. Bhashni Rathnayake, and Mrs. N.W. Pushpakumari for making time to come see us. Rushing back to you right after the play was so very reminiscent of our school days. Most of what we have accomplished, we owe it to you. Thank you for being there for us!

We are especially grateful to other School Principals, Teachers in Charge, and students who supported us and joined us on the 27th to watch the show. We are genuinely excited to see such support in the Southern Province. Thank you very much for your encouragement and support towards our cause and towards English theatre.

We are also grateful to all of you who invested your time and hard-earned money to support our endeavor.

Aaand Scene! 🎭

“The Wild Duck”, retold by Misfit Souls was staged yesterday at Hall de Galle, and the reception was too overwhelming (in a very good way!) that it frankly took us a minute to recover from it!

The sixty minute play you saw on stage yesterday was a result of hours and hours of research, 3 days of re-scripting, about 40 hours of online script reading, 2 days of stage rehearsal, and sheer panic. But what made the play magical was 4 generations of Sanghamiththians who met each other because of stage drama (who also somehow managed to remain best friends for almost 14 years), coming together and stepping on the stage for the first time in exactly ten years, completely trusting one another to pull the weight of the production, defend our cause of raising funds for our friend, and not let down so many people who trusted and invested in us. We were prepared for the worst, from forgetting our lines to fainting on stage to bearing the full cost (or loss) of the production, because we had set ourselves a target fund to support our friend. However, what we didn’t expect was a fund that exceeded our target, and most importantly, a full house of you, actually coming to see us on stage!

A simple post is not enough to express how grateful we are, but that’s what we are going to do for now. Thank you for your love, every single comment, all the constructive feedback, and for giving us and our dearest friend indusara pathirana an hour of your valuable time! ❤️

Dearest Indusara, wishing you a speedy recovery!
