Citihitz, the first satellite channel for drama and drama related entertainment programmes, was initiated in the year 2007 under the patronage of Dialog Television (Pvt) Limited. The main objective of the channel, managed by OnAir World Ceylon (Pvt) Limited, is to cater to all audiences for teledrama, movies, and its related entertainment and infotainment programmes with the goal of developing the

knowledge to appreciate drama among the local viewership. It is indirectly aimed at promoting the local drama industry as well, at a time when it seems to have deteriorated. However, taking into consideration the limited resources the management of CitiHitz has decided to multicast local films as well as teledramas adapted as telefilms uninterruptedly. The channel also produced and multicasted interlude programmes to provide the latest happenings and trends of the local film and teledrama business.
