eir products to showcase in our stores. Suriya was incorporated in 2000 as a specialized "made-to-order" manufacturer of wooden furniture and retail outlet for Sri-Lankan handicrafts. Since its inception the company has grown from strength to strength and today is a leading
Sri-Lankan lifestyle store with products ranging from custom made wooden furniture, handloom fabric, candles, iron furniture, therapeutic products, cutlery and decorative house hold accessories to name a few. Most of our products are sourced from local communities, industries and artisans in rural Sri-Lanka, who benefit immensely by working with us. In addition to being a leading lifestyle store in Sri-Lanka, our vision is one day become a world renowned “Sri-Lankan brand ambassador”, and in line with this we commenced our first overseas retail store in California, USA. Through the overseas window we are doing our best to achieve our primary objective of ‘‘Sustaining the Livelihood of Artisan and Craftsman of Sri Lanka’’ by exposing their talent and craftsmanship to the US market. We strive to achieve the highest ethical standards in all our manufacturing processes and business practices. We ensure that the suppliers we source from do not utilize child labour, prison labour etc and adhere to all national and international labour laws. Protecting mother earth is our top priority thus all our handicraft items are made from readily available local raw materials, and reclaimed jack wood for wooden furniture. We also provide an incentive to the development of indigenous handicraft skills throughout the country by sourcing primarily from SME’s based throughout rural Sri-Lanka. The product offering will continue to expand, incorporating the latest design & development concepts from Sri-Lankan craftsmen, artisans and manufacturers. This will also ensure that the company will offer the widest possible product range to its customers both in Sri-Lanka and Internationally, promising to be a world class lifestyle store.
