The Way of the Cross 2026
Walking with Christ in Hope and Faith

The Archdiocesan Choir of Colombo came together in prayerful devotion for our annual Lenten Way of the Cross, journeying spiritually with our Lord through His Passion. In moments of reflection, sacrifice, and unity, we were reminded of Christ’s endless love and the grace found in carrying our crosses with faith.

May this sacred pilgrimage deepen our hearts in repentance, strengthen our commitment to serve, and lead us closer to the joy of the Resurrection.

"We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You, because by Your Holy Cross You have redeemed the world."

Dear Choristers of the Archdiocesan Choir of Colombo, and all Choristers around the World,

As we joyfully celebrate the Feast of St. Cecilia, patron saint of sacred music, we extend our warmest wishes and blessings to each one of you.

Your voices are more than harmonies—they are offerings of prayer, hope, and faith. Whether sung in grand cathedrals, humble chapels, or quiet rehearsal rooms, your music becomes a bridge between heaven and earth. Through your commitment, discipline, and love for this ministry, you give life to worship and touch hearts in ways words alone cannot.

May St. Cecilia inspire you to embrace your calling ever more deeply.
May your singing continue to bring comfort to the weary, joy to the faithful, and glory to God.

Wishing you God’s abundant blessings today and always.
May your voices remain instruments of peace, unity, and grace, echoing across communities and nations.

Happy Feast of St. Cecilia to all choristers near and far!

Celebrating 50 Years of Diplomatic Relations

We rejoice in a momentous occasion marking the 50th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between the Holy See and the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.

The celebration took place with a solemn Holy Mass at St. Lucia’s Cathedral, Kotahena, presided over by Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher — the Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations of the Holy See.

The Mass was concelebrated by the Catholic bishops of Sri Lanka, including Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith, Archbishop of Colombo.

The voices of the Archdiocesan Choir of Colombo lifted in harmony to bring spiritual depth and reverence to this landmark occasion.

A heartfelt tribute to five decades of friendship, faith, and mutual respect between Sri Lanka and the Holy See.

As The Archdiocesan Choir of Colombo, we believe that for the service of the Lord, there are no limitations, no borders, and no seas too wide. When God extends His hand and calls us, we must go wherever His mission leads — to sing, to serve, and to glorify His holy name.

As in previous years, this year too we were blessed with the invitation to join in praising God at the 118th Feast of Our Lady of Matara, held on the 11th, 12th, and 13th of September 2025. The humble request of the Parish Priest of the Shrine of Our Lady of Matara, Rev. Fr. Sampath Weligoda, was prayerfully accepted by our Choir Director, Rev. Fr. Prasad Niranjan Fernando, enabling us to unite our voices in service to the Lord.

In the true spirit of friendship and faith, the Matara Church Choir and the Archdiocesan Choir of Colombo came together as one voice of worship. Together, we sang for three solemn and grace-filled celebrations: the Eucharistic Celebration, the Evening Prayer, and the Solemn High Mass of the Feast — all offered to magnify the glory of the Lord.

We were also deeply privileged to receive the blessings of His Lordship Rt. Rev. Dr. Raymond Wickramasinghe, Bishop of the Diocese of Galle. With great humility and kindness, he blessed us, commended our service, and expressed his heartfelt gratitude for our presence and contribution to the Feast of Matara.

May our voices always rise in harmony as instruments of His love, and may our service be a reflection of His boundless grace through the intercession of Our Lady of Matara.

The Archdiocesan Choir of Colombo had the privilege of leading the sacred music and hymns for the Feast of the Blessing of the Sick at the National Basilica, of Our Lady of Lanka Ragama-Thewattha. Our contribution sought to enhance the solemnity of this significant event, which brought together the faithful from across the country, along with bishops, priests, and nuns. With hearts devoted in prayer, we offered praise and intercession, seeking the loving care and protection of Our Lady of Lanka, Mother of the Church, on Sunday, 31st August 2025.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Rev. Fr. Prasad Niranjan Fernando, our Choir Director, for his dedicated guidance and leadership in preparing and directing the choir; to Rev. Fr. Suranga Fonseka, Liturgy Coordinator of the Archdiocese of Colombo, for providing the necessary facilities and support to make our service possible; and to Mr. Neranjan de Silva, our gifted pipe organist, whose musical accompaniment enriched the solemnity of the liturgy.

On Saturday, 30th August 2025, over 75 choirsters of the Archdiocesan Choir of Colombo gave glory to God through the sacred chanting of the Vespers Service at the National Basilica, Ragama-Thewattha. In this evening prayer, the Church lifts hearts in thanksgiving for the day past, offering praise and reflection before nightfall. The faithful were united in the evening sacrifice of praise, Magnificat anima mea Dominum, honoring Our Blessed Mother Mary, Mother of the Church.
