Gustav Mahler Society of Colombo in association with the S.I.E. Co.Ltd Japan successfully hosted the 2nd Colombo Classical Guitar Competition at the Russian House in Colombo on 22nd March 2026.

The Grand Prix winner of the competition, received a prestigious Aranjuez 720 classical guitar worth over Rs 500,000.

All selected participants received certificates of participation along with a set of Savarez Classical Guitar Strings and a set of nail adjustment paper.

මතක තනු 2 • GMSC X WAYO ✨

The Gustav Mahler Society of Colombo concluded its 2025/2026 Season in style with two full house concerts at the Lionel Wendt Theatre Colombo 07 on 28th March 2026.

The second edition of the signature concert series of the GMSC, මතක තනු (Melodic Memoirs) featured one of the most acclaimed pop ensembles in Sri Lanka, the iconic WAYO, led by Sangeeth Wijesuriya

The concerts were conducted by our Chief Conductor, maestro Srimal Weerasinghe & the all music arrangements were done by our concertmaster, Darshana Amarasinghe . Several musicians of the orchestra were also featured as soloists at the concerts, Darshana Amarasinghe (Concertmaster), Manoj Wijayawardana (Principal Viola) & Vidhurinda Samaraweera (Principal Horn).
