Ananda College Western Music Association was found in the the year 2003 under the extreme care and guidance from the contemporary teacher-in-charge, Mrs.Priyanthi Perera. In the same exact same year,ACWMA organised a musical fiesta named after 'Maroons in Harmony' with the collaboration of Nalanda College Western Music Association. It was an astounding success and without no doubt,it upheld the sta
tus which school based Western Music had before. In order to continue to uphold its legacy to greater heights,ACWMA organised the 'Maroons in Harmony' in 2004 and 2005 consecutively. Those three iconic concerts most probably layed the foundation for the Sri Lankan school based Western Music from many aspects and brought a new dimension to it. The years 2005 and 2006 were the darkest era for the ACWMA which led to an inactive period due to unavoidable circumstances. After surviving through those though years,ACWMA was reborn as a much stronger organisation in the year 2011 under the immense interest and guidance of the contemporary teacher-in-charge, Mrs. As a small leap forward,ACWMA was able to hold annual Western Music days within the Ananda college in the years 2011,2012 and 2013. As we welcomed the year 2014,no one had a clue how successful it was going to be for the ACWMA.With the supervision and immense sacrifice of the current Master-in-Charge, Major. Nishantha Gunasekara,ACWMA organised a musical concert under the brand new name 'VIVACE™' which brings the meaning,'Lively' in Italian. Vivace™'14 was a huge success and a golden milestone in the whole ACWMA history and the years of sacrifice and hard work payed off by recovering the lost fame and reputation within and outside of our beloved Alma Mater. In the year 2015,the ACWMA continued and literally upheld its newly gained legacy by holding Vivace™'15 in a massive scale bigger than ever before. With the unmatched sacrifice of the contemporary Board of Officials,Vivace™'15 was held in the world renowned venue,Nelum Pokuna-Mahinda Rajapaksha theatre and with the participation over 10 invited schools,Famous music stars such as Bathiya and Santhush,Lahiru Perera,Dushyanth Weeraman and Indrachyapa Liyanage. Vivace™'15 also introduced the 'Beat Band' concept to schools in Sri Lanka for the first time in Sri Lankan history. With the pure idea of bringing glory and glamour to its Alma Mater, the Board of Officials took a huge risk that was worth taking and held the Vivace™'15 on 5th of September 2015,which has been one of the most successful Western Music concerts in Sri Lanka. With the highly successful year 2015 passed,it's time to continue the glory and fame which the iconic Vivace™ name has gained in the past two years by organizing Vivace™'16 in an extravagant manner. The western Music Association of Ananda College proudly presents,VIVACE™'16,A Western Music day following the main theme of all island inter-school Beat Band competitions with the participation over 200 schools and over 2000 students island wide with the genuine hope of developing the interest in Western Music fans all over the country and to offer the music enthusiastic students an opportunity to express the well polished talents to the audience in an extraordinary manner
