PARADISE ROAD GALLERIES -THE GALLERY CAFÉ OPENED IN 1998 IN A STRUCTURE WHICH WAS THE FORMER OFFICES OF WORLD RENOWNED SRI LANKAN ARCHITECT, THE LATE GEOFFREY BAWA. BAWA PERSONALLY APPROVED FERNANDO TAKING OVER HIS BELOVED PROPERTY AND CONVERTING IT INTO A RESTAURANT AND ART GALLERY AND RESPECTED SHANTH'S DESIGN SENSE IN THE CONVERSION AND RENOVATION OF THE BUILDING TO COMPLEMENT HIS OWN. BAWA'S ONLY INPUT WAS THE LOCATION OF THE MAIN PAVILION WHERE MOST DINERS ARE SEATED. THE ART GALLERY FEATURES REGULARLY CHANGING EXHIBITIONS BY ESTABLISHED AND EMERGING LOCAL ARTISTS, FOR SALE. AS THE CAFÉ IS OPEN FROM 10AM THROUGH TO MIDNIGHT DAILY, VISITORS FREQUENT THE PROPERTY FOR MEALS, SITE SEEING, COFFEE, CAKE, SHOPPING AND THE COMPLIMENTARY WI-FI AVAILABLE FOR USE OF PATRONS. THE GALLERY CAFÉ'S MENU HAS NOT CHANGED IN YEARS AS REGULARS HAVE THEIR FAVOURITES AND FERNANDO PRIDES HIMSELF ON THE FACT THAT THEY MAY ALWAYS RETURN FOR THAT OPTION. IT IS PARTICULARLY KNOWN FOR ITS COCKTAILS AND DESSERTS AS WELL AS IT'S CONSISTENTLY 'GOOD FOOD.'

Paradise Road Galleries is pleased to present ‘Self Search’ by artist Kasun Wickramasinghe.

In Self Search, Kasun Wickramasinghe explores the artistic journey of looking inward and discovering one's inner self. The collection reflects on the process of self-discovery, considering the ways in which our understanding of ourselves develops through reflection and introspection. At the same time, the works look beyond the individual to consider our deeper connections with the world around us. Through this exploration, the collection invites reflection on the relationships between the inner self and the wider world, and how these connections shape our sense of who we are.

Paradise Road Galleries is pleased to present ‘Traces of the Unseen’ by artist Pradeep Jayatunga.

In Traces of the Unseen, Jayatunga presents a compelling body of work that explores the threshold between the visible and the intangible. Through layered compositions, atmospheric spaces, fragmented forms and shifting fields of light, he creates visual meditations on memory, identity, presence and transformation. His paintings are not literal representations but evocative realms where imagination and perception converge, inviting viewers to embark on their own journey of discovery.

Recurring motifs-corridors, luminous urban landscapes, suspended spaces and enigmatic figures-serve as metaphors for the psychological and emotional terrains we inhabit. The works examine themes of connection and solitude, permanence and transience, revealing how unseen narratives continue to resonate beneath the surface of everyday life. In these paintings, absence acquires its own presence, while emptiness becomes a space rich with possibility and reflection.

In Rubert Soysa’s work, the human face becomes a mirror into the complex world of human emotions.

Moving across different stylistic registers, from raw, gestural distortion to a cubist fracturing of form, Soysa’s faces splinter into planes of color and jagged line, revealing the messy, contradictory landscape of feelings that lies beneath every human expression.

The artist’s unrestrained brushstrokes embrace a deliberate unrefinement, resisting the polish of a finished portrait.
