The Archdiocesan Choir of Colombo was deeply honored to serve at the Feast of the Blessing of the Sick, held at the National Basilica of Our Lady of Lanka, Ragama–Thewatta, on Sunday, 30th August 2026. Through sacred music, hymns, and prayer, the choir sought to offer a humble service to the Lord and to enhance the reverence and solemnity of this grace-filled celebration.
The Feast brought together the faithful from across the country, united in faith and hope, together with bishops and priests. In an atmosphere of profound prayer, we lifted our voices in praise and intercession, placing before Our Lady of Lanka, Mother of the Church, the sick, the suffering, and all those in need of her loving maternal care. May her compassionate intercession continue to bring comfort, strength, healing, and hope to all who seek her Son, Jesus Christ.
With sincere gratitude, we acknowledge Rev. Fr. Prasad Niranjan Fernando, our Choir Director, whose devoted guidance, prayerful leadership, and tireless preparation enabled us to serve with reverence, unity, and devotion.
We are equally grateful to Rev. Fr. Suranga Fonseka, Liturgy Coordinator of the Archdiocese of Colombo, for his generous support and for providing the facilities and assistance necessary for the choir to participate in this sacred celebration.
Our heartfelt appreciation also goes to Mr. Neranjan de Silva, our gifted pipe organist, and Chanul Dewnith Silva, whose beautiful and prayerful musical accompaniment enriched the sacred music and contributed greatly to the solemnity and beauty of the liturgy.
May all that was offered through our voices and music be for the greater glory of God. May Our Lady of Lanka, Mother of the Church, continue to guide, protect, and intercede for us, and may she lead us ever closer to her Son, Jesus Christ, as we humbly strive to serve the Church through the gift of sacred music.
