Puppy Filter Money Li$a is a hand-coloured screenprint in the format of a banknote — a sardonic piece of currency from Zurek’s very own fantasy economy. Serial number L88965625. Denomination: 1 PUG. 1 BUCK. B.
At the centre, a melancholic puppy face stares back at you — that iconic filter we’ve all worn at least once — framed by thick red hair rendered in raw, gestural strokes. Pink flesh tones clash against deep burnt sienna. Blues and greens leak out of the face like emotional overflow. Behind it all: warm gold, the eternal colour of money, power and representation.
Security codes line the left margin like official authentication. The inscription *Fábrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre* — Spain’s real state mint — lends the whole thing an absurd institutional legitimacy. The jagged border completes the illusion.
Zurek’s message is precise and quietly subversive: value is constructed. Identity is a mask. The dog is the Mona Lisa.
