Hi everyone! We hope you’re keeping safe, well-informed and physically distant during these extraordinary times.
To depict the strange world we suddenly find ourselves in, BAS is inviting artists in Lebanon to submit artwork related to life in Lebanon currently under quarantine and a potential future for it.
Although for many of us it feels this way, life hasn’t halted since the COVID-19 pandemic in Lebanon and the world. There are changes to all sorts of everyday experiences, from being quarantined and smelling detergent everywhere, to larger realities and expectations of what happens to the revolution under these circumstances and what life will be like post-corona. A unifying theme for our persistence in Lebanon during the thawra, economic crisis and now COVID-19 pandemic is our solidarity. It is a layered solidarity across different groups who are supporting a multitude of inter-related causes.
In an effort to continuously support and mobilise around political and economic issues in Lebanon, BAS invites you to submit artwork that depicts the solidarity and resilience of Lebanon and showcases the current picture of economic, political, social, monetary, and healthcare life in Lebanon or portrays a future for it.
You can create with any medium, size, or level of detail artwork you think satisfies either of those themes. There are no constraints on type of artwork either, be it a quick sketch, installation art, or any other visual art form.
If you’d like participate, please email us back your artwork with its name, dimensions, and medium under subject “BAS | Virtual Exhibition” by April 26th. We will showcase artwork that best satisfies the themes and presents a compelling visual representation of the idea that is being expressed.
Best of luck! We look forward to keeping our collective stories alive with your artwork.
