In the year 1975, a year of worldwide wars and conflicts, a year when the Hippies’ search for peace ended and the world sang ‘Imagine’ while racing to space, a

ll eyes were drawn to a secret laboratory in Lebanon where a team of researchers discovered the absolute and final cure for Humanity’s ailments and prepared to unveil it to the world. The world’s scientists and media raced to find the secret behind this discovery. The date of 13 April 1975 was set for a media and science conference to unveil the cure to the whole world. But something went wrong, an incident that caused the information to remain in the dark. All attempts to locate the secret laboratory failed, while rumors spread that the research team was being quarantined underground. The doors closed on an opportunity to offer the world a chance for healing. Four decades later…

It is the year 2015, a year worldwide wars and conflicts, a year when Humanity continues to search for peace, sings ‘Imagine’ and still racing to outer-space. Leaked information from credible sources indicates the quarantine on the research team was lifted and the doors to the secret laboratory were re-opened. At the same time, rumors of an incident warn of more delays. It is announced that the doors to the secret laboratory will open and that anyone can request and receive the treatment until available quantities are exhausted. This work is dedicated to the souls of departed inspiring artists, friends who left this world with marks of laughter still drawn on untold faces. It is dedicated to the spirits that gifted us with unlimited, unending vigor …

We dedicate this work to Raymond Gebara, the eternal muse; to Ziad Ghawi, the magnificent heart; to Issam Breidi, the humble superstar; to Martine Daher, the creative force; and to Tony Njeim, the timeless jovial.

To Whom It May Concern:
I am writing on behalf of the Australian dance organisation Shaun Parker & Company that is based on the
University of Sydney campus in Australia, and by which is supported by the Australia Council for the Arts
and Create NSW.
I am also writing on behalf of our dancers, creative artists, production crew, and managerial team who
have all be involved in collaborative work with BIPOD including performances at the world-class facility
Citerne Beirut.
Shaun Parker & Company was funded by the Council of Australian Arab Relations (CAAR), the Department
of Foreign Affairs & Trade (DFAT through their ACDGP investment) and the Australia Council for the Arts to
visit Beirut as part of a cultural exchange program at Citerne Beirut this year (2019).
The Company’s experience at Citerne Beirut was a remarkable example of true cultural exchange between
Australia and Lebanon, and it is one that we hope to continue into the future. Beirut is so very fortunate to have such vital arts leaders such as Omar Rajeh and Mia Habis and their incredible team and cultural vision that is Citerne Beirut.
As a leading Australian cultural leader, I whole-heartedly support the vision and continuation of Citerne Beirut, the BIPOD – Beirut International Contemporary Dance Festival, and the outstanding work processes of Omar Rajeh and Mia Habis. Such a visionary project places Beirut and Lebanon on the international stage with several cultural and political benefits for both the short-term and the long-term.

Please do not hesitate to contact me for further information or support regarding this matter.

Yours sincerely,

Shaun Parker

Acting is behaving truthfully under imaginary circumstances. Sanford Meisner

Study, find all the good teachers and study with them, get involved in acting to act, not to be famous or for the money. Do plays. It's not worth it if you are just in it for the money. You have to love it. Philip Seymour Hoffman

Without this playing with fantasy no creative work has ever yet come to birth. The debt we owe to the play of the imagination is incalculable.

I regard the theatre as the greatest of all art forms, the most immediate way in which a human being can share with another the sense of what it is to be a human being.

No great artist ever sees things as they really are. If he did, he would cease to be an artist.

I love acting. It is so much more real than life.

You use a glass mirror to see your face; you use works of art to see your soul.

To a professional critic (I have been one myself) theatre-going is the curse of Adam. The play is the evil he is paid to endure in the sweat of his brow; and the sooner it is over, the better.

Just as the historian can teach no real history until he has cured his readers of the romantic delusion that the greatness of a queen consists in her being a pretty woman and having her head cut off, so the playwright of the first order can do nothing with his audience until he has cured them of looking at the stage through the keyhole, and sniffing round the theatre as prurient people sniff round the divorce court.
George Bernard Shaw

Unless comedy touches me as well as amuses me, it leaves me with a sense of having wasted my evening. I go to the theatre to be moved to laughter, not to be tickled or bustled into it.
