Introduction to Flying Low with Samer Zaher

📅 Wednesday, 9 & 16 September 2026
🕕 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm

A two-class cycle offering an introduction to the Flying Low technique, focusing on our relationship with the floor, weight, gravity, and flow.

We’ll start with a physical warm-up, followed by movement exploration and improvisation, technical exercises, and choreographic material. The classes will explore how we can move between the floor and standing with greater awareness, coordination, and freedom.

Open to everyone.

A contemporary dance workshop centered around floorwork technique and our relationship with the floor.

We’ll explore how to use our weiweighfloorworkithavity, and find fluid ways to move between the floor, standing, and jumping.

Through movement and technical exercises, we’ll discover different possibfloorworkithin our bodies and develop more awareness, coordination, and freedom in movement. The workshop will also include floorwork exercises and choreographic phrases, bringing the different elements together through flow and movement.

Open to all levels.

We’re opening a cycle with Sarah Almoneem!

Dates: 17, 19, 24, 26 August 2026
6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

A contemporary dance workshop for all levels, exploring the fundamentals of floor work and release techniques.
Through guided exercises and movement improvisation, we will discover different ways of moving our bodies, working with weight, gravity, flow, space, and music.
The workshop will also include choreographic phrases, combining technical practice, exploration, and individual movement.

Sarah Almoneem is a Syrian dancer, choreographer, and performer based in Beirut. A graduate of the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts in Damascus (2019), she is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Actor Training at the Lebanese University. Rooted in contemporary dance, her practice explores the body as a political and emotional archive, investigating questions of presence, memory, and belonging through movement.

An open mic but for dance, music and everything in between!

We’re opening a safe space for anyone to perform!
The Open Dance Platform is a safe and welcoming space for anyone interested in live performance.
An Open Mic but for Dance!

Who is it for?
Dancers
Performers
Actors/Actresses
Musicians
Poets
Writers
Visual artists
(And anyone who is curious to experiment & create with others)

Participants can present a short performance or simply join the improvisation sessions. 
Audience members are also welcome to participate if they decide to join on the day.

No previous experience is required, just bring your movement and authentic self!

Time Limits: 
Solo: Up to 5 minutes 
Group: Up to 8 minutes

We’re excited to open a new class cycle with Mira Majzoub!

Dates: 6, 13, 20 & 27 July

Mira Majzoub is a Lebanese dancer based in Paris.

Her work explores fluidity, spatial awareness, and calm intensity. She began her professional journey in 2020 with Beirut Contemporary Ballet, performing in stage works, music videos, and conceptual films. In 2024, she completed a three-year Bachelor’s degree in Contemporary Dance in Paris, where she developed a practice centered on the relationship between body and space.

In these classes, participants will develop movement awareness through structured improvisation, working with spinal articulation, weight shifting, dynamic range, rhythm, timing, and contact improvisation. Through guided scores and movement tasks, we will explore body mechanics, spatial awareness, partnering, and compositional tools, building versatility in movement and confidence in improvisation.

Beirut Choreography Encounters (BCE) is opening its call for international artists for the upcoming edition taking place in Beirut between 14 — 25 October 2026.

The international program will take place between 21 — 25 October.

We invite choreographers, dancers, performers, and movement-based artists to submit their works and join us in Beirut for performances, exchanges, workshops, and encounters.

We are happy to open the call for the upcoming edition of Beirut Choreography Encounters.

Are you working with dance, physical theatre, or performance?
Do you have a project, an idea, or a work in progress you want to share?

We invite artists connected to the Arab region — based locally or internationally — to apply for the Arab Dance Platform taking place in Beirut from 14–18 October.

We welcome performances in different formats and adaptable to various spaces and contexts.

Applications are open until June 15.

Dominique, a Lebanese choreographer based in Berlin, was in residency during February at Beirut Physical Lab, developing her research on Dabke and its history in collaboration with Bassam Abou Diab.

This residency is supported by Mawred – Culture Resource and Goethe-Institut.
