Here they are, a million and one thoughts all crammed into one A4 sheet of paper. As İ produced this work, it occurred to me that İ have been taught how to write essays, reports, research papers, short stories and the like and throughout the learning process there has always been a pronounced emphasis on order and structure. As a student of calligraphy and lettering, İ have been met with even more rules on how to write properly. And quite frankly, İ am finding that too many rules and too much structure will suck the life and fun out of anything. İnstead of being a liberating experience, writing has at times become a laborious process that is riddled with self-doubt, feelings of inadequacy, and a sinking feeling that the aesthetic 'wow' factor will forever remain elusive.
Why can't writing simply be about self expression in form as well as in content? İsn't that what writing is essentially all about?
İ am finding it useful to constantly be learning how to write properly and to use these skills towards finding my voice and giving expression to the things that İ can only express through writing.
Anyways, İ thought it might be useful to share that. What are your thoughts on the matter?
