In traditional Japanese aesthetics, wabi-sabi (侘寂) is a world view centered on the acceptance of transience and imperfection. The aesthetic is sometimes described as one of appreciating beauty that is "imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete.”

Gargee’an coffee set.

Gargee'an (قرقيعان), sometimes spelled as Gerga'oon (قرقاعون) or referred to as Majeena (ماجينا), is a semiannual celebration, observed primarily in Iraq and the gulf. It takes place on the 15th night of the Islamic month of Ramadan. It is celebrated by children dressing in traditional attire and going door-to-door to receive sweets and nuts from neighbours, as they sing traditional songs. The origins of this tradition stems from the occasion of the birth of Al-Hassan bin Ali, the grandson of the Prophet Mohammed PBUH, where the Prophet himself gave out sweets to the children of Al-Madina on this Holy night in celebration of the arrival of his grandson.

يحتفل المسلمون في ليلة النصف من شهر رمضان في اغلب الدول الإسلامية و يتم توزيع الحلوى و الهدايا للأطفال تحت مسميات عدة حسب كل دولة، من دون معرفة السبب الرئيسي للاحتفال فقط مجرد هي عادة متوارثة او انقضاء نصف شهر رمضان المبارك!
لكن السبب الرئيسي للاحتفال هو سنة نبوية شريفة و هو عندما ولدت السيدة فاطمة الزهراء الإمام الحسن بن علي بن أبي طالب عليهم السلام في هذه الليلة قام رسول الله ص بتوزيع الحلوى على أطفال المدينة ( التمر الممزوج بالدقيق) و يقولون له قرة عين لك فسمي قرقيعان . و أيضاً يأتي أبناء الصحابة المنتجبين رضوان الله عليهم إلى بيت الرسول ص لتهنئته و بقولهم ( لولاك ما جئنا او ما جينا ) فسمي ( ماجينا)... الخ.

‘My Baghdad.’

An imagined memory of a faraway fatherland.

Memories establish a connection between our individual past and our collective past (our heritage & history). The past is always with us, and it defines our present; it resonates in our voices, hovers over our silences, and explains how we came to be ourselves and to inhabit what we call ‘our homes.’ Thus, ‘what we call the past is merely a function and production of a continuous present and its discourses’ (Hirsch & Smith 2002, 9).
