MA in Visual Arts Dzovig Arnelian is a multidisciplinary Lebanese Armenian artist. She has a Masters Degree in Plastic arts.

She is a feminist artist mostly working on themes related to gender roles, women empowerment, patriarchy criticism and so on. She has participated in several solo and collective exhibitions in Lebanon and all over the globe.

In The Ladies Are Waiting I, I turn the familiar image of women waiting for dinner into something different: here, it is the men who are in the kitchen, preparing the meal and fully enjoying the experience.

I was especially interested in the energy and color of the scene. Bright blues, vibrant greens, warm yellows, oranges, and reds come together in expressive layers, creating a lively and playful atmosphere. The watercolor allows these colors to flow into one another while the loose lines and gestures capture the movement of the men as they work.

The title adds a playful twist to the scene — the ladies are waiting, while the men are happily occupied in the kitchen, enjoying the process of preparing dinner.

It means so much to me that this work is now part of the church’s private collection.
