Khao Paad (ເຂົ້າປາດ) is a sweet, bouncy Lao dessert made from a steamed blend of rice flour, tapioca flour, coconut milk, sugar, and pandan extract. Once cooled, it’s sliced and coated in fresh grated coconut. The colors in Khao Paad come from natural ingredients such as charcoal, pandan leaf, and brown sugar.
