Morlam Inter
Last up in our series of posts to introduce the artists who played last Friday: Morlam Inter.
Morlam Inter is a newly formed band blending morlam with international influences like hip-hop, jazz, and rock. Their name is actually the name of this music genre itself: a genre not heard in Laos until now. "Inter" (pronounced 'in-tuh') stands for international music, reflecting their genre-crossing sound.
The lineup includes (in alphabetical order) Duth on bass, Mod on guitar, Peter on piano, Phasouthin on khaen, and Stu on drums.

Next up in our series introducing the artists who played last Friday: Phasouthin.
Phasouthin is a Lao roots-folk singer-songwriter and an exceptional storyteller, weaving acoustic tales together with solo khene into grounded, soulful songs. His music opens the night with heart. On stage, he's joined by ຈານນ້ອງ (Channong) on guitar and vocals, bringing a cheeky, lively energy, alongside Sith on the cajon.

We're kicking off a short series of posts to introduce the artists who played last Friday. First up: Unborder Rebels.

The band brings a mix of Latin and Reggae sounds to the stage. The lineup includes Pedro Luis, main singer and guitarist; Stuart, a fixture of Vientiane's music scene and talented drummer; and Jan, a new addition to the scene, freshly arrived from Germany and a extremely talented musician, we’ll see more of him in the coming months.

You can catch Unborder Rebels regularly at Viva La Vida, where they've become a familiar part of the Vientiane music scene.

We are blown away by how many of you showed up last night!! The energy you all brought and the instant love for Morlam Inter meant so much to them.
Thank you so much to everyone who came, danced, and made the night so special to Morlam Inter, Unbordered Rebels, and Phasouthin!
A special mention to Café Indochine for their stellar hospitality, and a huge big up to their waiters and waitresses who worked hard all night to make sure everyone was taken care of. 🙌

So… why is Co-Mo organizing a Morlam concert? 👀

We usually showcase very different kinds of artists, mostly DJs.

But two weeks ago, we caught Morlam Inter playing at Viva La Vida and were immediately won over.

Ancient melodies. Modern harmony. Morlam colliding with jazz, hip-hop and rock, a room on fire from beginning to end, and an audience that clearly wanted more.

Musically, it was just really, really good.

We walked out thinking: more people in Vientiane need to see this.

So, together with Café Indochine, we decided to make it happen.

This Friday, Morlam Inter returns for a full live set alongside Unbordered Rebels and Phasouthin.
