A friend recently lost her best buddy, Travis. He was a good boy and she was heartbroken. It’s been nearly 3 years since I’ve touched a paintbrush, and I’m a little rusty, but it was wonderful to give her something to remember him by. 😊

“Flowers in Flame”
Oil Paint on Board (15”x15”)

The National Gallery of the Cayman Islands recently commissioned me to do a piece for their upcoming exhibition ‘Terra Botanica: Depictions of Nature from the National Collection’ running from 3 September to 2 December 2022.

The beautiful Flame Tree (also called a Flamboyant) was chosen due to it being found in abundance here in Cayman and it’s significance to the people of the Islands. It is an absolute honour to be chosen to take part (I will have a few pieces exhibited) and strongly suggest you check out the exhibition!

For something a little different, I also included a few pics of the process- from acrylic block in to final layers in oil- and the paintbrushes used on about 90% of the painting. Enjoy!

“Another Pleasant Day in George Town”
-Oil Paint on Canvas (24”x30”)

I wanted to paint George Town, Grand Cayman again. I tried to capture a bit of the calm and relaxed atmosphere that is quite prevalent at the moment while cruise ships are not operating. It really is a beautiful little town.

Sofia’s Unicorn
Oil on Board (15”x15”)

It’s been 7 months since I’ve lifted a paintbrush. Painting a hot pink unicorn floaty is as good a reason as any to get back to it. I wanted to do an underwater painting for ages (in the style of or -whose work I love) and took tonnes of photos of people underwater but the inflatable unicorn won the day. Hope you all like it.

Paradise Sands
Oil on board (24”x19”)

It’s been a minute since I’ve painted anything. Feels good to be back at it. This particular piece threw me right back into the deep end. It was hard, detailed and time consuming but super fun and very much worth it. Thanks to MJS for the reference and lesson in getting fine line details right.

‘Snug Pug’
Oil on board 15”x15”

Not my usual type of composition but it was impossible to scroll past this little guy and not want to paint him. Come on. Just look at that face.

‘Sun Rays on a Stingray’
Oil on board (24”x32”)
A painting of the magnificent stingrays we are so fortunate to have in abundance here in Grand Cayman. Stingray City is a popular tourist attraction here where we have a chance to interact with them and capture moments such as these. This one is one of my favourites.

‘A Quiet Evening in George Town’
Oil on board 24”x32”
This painting is of part of the George Town waterfront in Grand Cayman on a particularly colourful evening with pinks, blues, purples, and a bright vermillion wall taking centre stage. The sunsets here in Grand Cayman are epic.

‘Cayman Parrot’
Oil on board 19”x25”

A painting I did from a photo in a local paper. They didn’t mention who the photographer is but I’d like to thank them for such a great little composition. The bokeh background really makes the parrot pop!

A bit of fun.. anyone want to guess what my next piece is? This is a close up of some detail work. You can win a high five when we’re allowed to give them again.
