The National Gallery of the Cayman Islands serves to:
- promote the appreciation and practice of the visual arts, of and in the Cayman Islands and to encourage dialogue in relation to cultural heritage, national identity, Caymanian history and the history of art;
- preserve Caymanian heritage through our collections; and
- provide access to these collections and encourage a rich exploration of cu

lture and self, while building self-esteem and fostering creativity among all participants. Established in 1996, the National Gallery of the Cayman Islands (NGCI) is a vibrant arts organisation that seeks to fulfil its mission through exhibitions, artist residencies, education/outreach programmes and research projects. As part of our mission to “promote and encourage the appreciation and practice of the visual arts, of and in the Cayman Islands” we send Caymanian art and artists abroad as well as having many fine international artists visit, exhibit and work in the Cayman Islands.

Wonderful article by Christopher Tobutt in the Compass reviewing our current Next Wave: Emerging Voices in Cayman Art, capturing the breadth and depth of the students work. This moving show is a must see. Congratulations once again to all of the featured artists.

The exhibition was made possible with support from the Ministry of Youth, Sports, Culture & Heritage Cayman Art Week and Susan A. Olde, OBE

The exhibition 'Next Wave: Emerging Voices in Cayman' at the National Gallery of the Cayman Islands presents young artists' works.

What a fantastic Cayman Art Week 2026! ♥️ Every year, we are astounded by the positive energy of the community as we collectively celebrate visual art and creativity. As a lead sponsor of CAW, the National Gallery spent our week hosting several events to support public engagement with the National Collection and temporary exhibitions across Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac and Little Cayman.

From hosting the incredible launch party where we unveiled the youth exhibition ‘Next Wave: Emerging Voices in Cayman Art’, to student tours with the Layman Scott high school art dept, to special talks, lunchtime tours at our main campus and dance lessons surrounded by art, we have truly loved getting to interact with art lovers new and existing!

If you’ve just discovered us thanks to CAW, welcome! We look forward to seeing you at the Gallery, one of our satellite exhibition locations, or a special event again soon. ✨

The Gallery was filled with inspiration last week as we hosted the North Side seniors from DCFS! They joined us for a guided tour of 'Randy Chollette: Conversations in the 7th Dimension' and ‘Next Wave: Emerging Voices in Cayman Art’, were treated to complementary tea and bites, and got hands-on with a creative studio session.

We are incredibly grateful to DCFS for helping arrange this special morning, and we extend our sincere thanks to for their continued sponsorship and dedication to this community programme!

Join us in celebrating International Museum Day 2026!

For over 45 years, International Museum Day has mobilised thousands of museums across the globe to highlight our work as platforms for cultural exchange, community engagement, and international collaboration. The National Gallery - as Cayman's national art museum - is proud to be part of this global network.

This year, IMD explores “Museums Uniting a Divided World”, focusing on how museums can act as bridges across cultural, social, and geopolitical divides, fostering dialogue, understanding, inclusion, and peace within and between communities worldwide.
