We would like to give a shout out to The Alexander Hotel for being so accommodating with the delicious light refreshments they provided at a discounted rate for our opening reception exhibition and fundraising online silent auction last week Tuesday for Cayman Art Week.

These two children and their parents have truly embraced Brac life. Unfortunately due to uncontrolable situation the children on Tuesday
missed the opening of the art exhibition and auction Heritage Register Reimagined: CAYman Built.

However their mom made sure they got there yesterday. Why is this important well the children Issac and Esme and their mom Ms Thea are exhibiting their artworks in the show.
With Issac’s artwork also being auctioned. They were so excited and proud to see their artworks on display.

Be sure to come out to view this exciting exhibition tomorrow we are open at the Eldemire House in the Creek from 10am to 6:30pm and Saturday from 10am to 6pm.

‘EN PLEIN AIR’ WORKSHOP WITH SIMONE SCOTT ON THE BEACH OPPOSITE ELDEMIRE HOUSE
Join artist Simone Scott of Cayman Brac Culture and Heritage as she leads an ‘en plein air’ workshop on the beach opposite Eldemire House. You will also have the opportunity to view the exhibition Heritage Register Reimagined: Cayman Built currently on view at Eldemire House. Hosted in partnership with the National Trust for the Cayman Islands’ Brac Committee. Hours 10AM to 12NOON

AT CAYMAN BRAC HERITAGE HOUSE
Join the National Gallery for an outdoor art workshop in the grounds of Cayman Brac Heritage House.
The activity will be inspired by the exhibition, Art of Nature and will be followed by a guided walkthrough of the exhibition, which features nature-inspired paintings by from the National Collection. Materials provided.

TIMEBACK COMMUNITY ARCHIVE EXHIBITION
AT CAYMAN BRAC BEACH RESORT
Dive more deeply into the TimeBack archive project and learn about how this community archive was created from over 60 years of Cayman Compass photographs. Enjoy a discussion and light refreshments.

Iassac’s digital painting of number 19 - Walton’s Mango Manor is popular having recieved two bids so far with the current highest at $60. Simone Scott’s digital artworks 01 - NTCI Eldemire House is at $200 and number 02 - Marson’ house is at $235. Make more bids and higher remember 75% goes towards the Heritage Fund and with 25% to be used for putting on these kinds of art events in the community. Simone has thrown in a surprise that all winning bids over $1000 for her artwork will receive an emailed with a high resolution of the image to use how the winner wish. They can send it to a photo printing shop at their expense to get print at a larger size on canvas, or even metal or they can use as a personal screen saver. Not for commercial use.

So come on, get to bidding.

Cayman Art Week 2026 kicked off today at the National Trust’s Eldemire House opening reception/exhibition/ auction. Heritage Register
Reimagined: CAYman Built was a great success and we thanktul to all those who came out and those who bid on artworks. The bidding continues online until 6pm on the 30th May. Opening Wednesday to Saturday 10am to 6:30pm

Thank you to everyone that came out to Dr. Kasandra’s Cayman Kind Cooking and Baking Class that was hosted by Cayman Brac Culture and Heritage.
A truly authentic Caymanian experience community cooks that will take place twice a month.

The cook for the Cassava Heavy Cake was Ms Marcia who offered step-by-step cooking instructions which the participants did. Then while it was baking a demo of how to crate the coconut and cassava was done on a traditional grater. This taste of Caymanian culture was able to be taken home to be eaten once cooled. I’ve had feedback that it was delicious. The written recipe was given to each participant so that they could recreate at home whenever they wanted. This unique class only cost $25, hope to see you there next session, but reservations are required on a first come first serve, as there are limited spaces available. Call 925-2631 to sign up and secure your spot.

Since it took place at the Heritage House, we had unexpected visitors that were interested in viewing the art on the walls which had been advertised at their hotel.

Dr Kasandra Scott-Salazar is also an author and had her books on hand for sale, which participants loved.

Our Little Cayman 2nd Artist Meet up takes place on Saturday 27th December. Island hop over with your art supplies to enjoy a day of expression as we draw/paint the traditional Caymanian church on Guy Banks Rd. Get a guided tour of the Little Cayman Museum that is hosting artwork from National Gallery 4th biennial and some light refreshments. Other stops and adventures await with free transportation for visiting artists.
