ReggaeEDM is a hybrid music genre that blends the laid-back rhythms and bass-driven grooves of reggae with the energetic, electronic soundscapes of EDM.

Its true architect is Kēvens, a Miami-based based artist who coined the term “ReggaeEDM” in 1998. ReggaeEDM is a genre-blending fusion of culture, rhythm, and innovation, where the deep, bass-heavy grooves of reggae collide with the pulse and energy of electronic dance music. Emerging from the experimental roots of Jamaican sound system culture and the 1990s Jungle movement, the term ReggaeEDM was coined in 1998 by Miami-based artist Kēvens at the Zen Music Festival to define his signature sound: a spiritually driven blend of jungle, drum and bass, and reggae. Since then, ReggaeEDM has gained global momentum, crossing cultural lines with hits like Kēvens’ “Legal Dreamers” and drawing in genre-pushing acts like Major Lazer, Thievery Corporation, Adrian Sherwood, Asian Dub Foundation, and Skrillex. ReggaeEDM unites diverse audiences with the meditative soul of reggae and the high-voltage energy of the dance floor.
