Artist Yoon Juwon expresses the countless cycles of life—plants growing, withering, and sprouting again—by repeatedly layering paint and various mediums. The veins of the plants’ leaves are recreated by carving them with a gouge, applying printmaking techniques, and the fragments are hung together to reveal traces of time. Producing paintings in both sizes 100 and 12 simultaneously hints at the reproductive nature characteristic of printmaking and emphasizes the artist’s identity as a printmaker.
