케이크갤러리(CAKE gallery)는 서울 중구 황학동 중고품시장의 중앙상가 건물에 위치한 부채꼴 모양의 전시공간이다. 부채꼴의 3차원을 켜켜이 가벽으로 잘라낸 케이크 모양의 상점들이 이 건물에 가득하다. 주 전시장은 6층에 위치하지만, 종종 중앙상가의 수많은 케이크 모양의 공간들이 전시 공간으로 호출될 것이다.
케이크갤러리가 위치한 황학동 중고품 시장은 만물시장, 벼룩시장, 풍물시장 또는 도깨비시장 등의 많은 이름을 갖고 있다. 소설 에서 조세희는 이 곳을 ‘최후의 시장’이라고 썼었다. 시장이라는 제도를 벗어난 중고품들이 즐비한 이곳에서 케이크갤러리는 현재의 미술을 밝히고 기술할 것이다.
