성률(b.1994)은 사라져가는 장면과 머물지 않는 시간을 회화적으로 탐구하는 작가다. 그는 일상 속에서 무심히 지나쳐온 풍경과 감정의 잔여를 붙잡아, 그 순간이 지녔던 온도와 기척을 화면 위에 다시 배치한다. 성률에게 기억은 멀어지는 것이 아니라, 다른 형태로 남아 되돌아오는 존재에 가깝다.

Seong Ryul (b. 1994) is an artist whose practice explores fleeting moments and the passage of time through painting. Drawing from overlooked landscapes and lingering emotional traces encountered in everyday life, he reconfigures their atmosphere and presence on canvas. For Seong Ryul, memory is not something that simply fades away, but rather something that remains in altered forms and returns to us over time.
While his early career was defined by illustration and graphic novels that established a distinctive narrative language, his recent work has expanded into a deeper exploration of painting. Working primarily with watercolor and acrylic, he creates surfaces where fluid washes and meticulous brushwork coexist. Through this process, chance and intention intersect, revealing evocative landscapes that feel familiar yet resist clear explanation. Standing before his paintings, viewers experience not a specific place, but the sensation of moving through a fragment of emotion, record, and memory.
