Introducing Se:um.
SE:UM continue the traditions of Korean music while being aware of their 21st century surroundings, as they immerse themselves in modern music. Traditional sounds are mixed with jazz, folk, and freeform style to create an entirely new and exciting fusion. With its auditory and visual spectacle, this exotic experience has received increasing acclaim from audiences world-wide.
About Seven Steps One Bow
In Seven Steps One Bow, SE:UM attempt a sonic variation almost resembling symphonic rock while maintaining the traditional structure of gilgunak chilchae rhythm. When listeners start to follow the contrabass’ line reminiscent of a Korean traditional string instrument, they are dragged down to dreamlike, traditional vocalise, and then swept in the accelerating torrent of percussions. Thickly layered with euphony and cacophony, the later part of Seven Steps One Bow evokes chaos and order at the same time, which one audience member at 2015 Edinburgh Festival Fringe rightly described as “epic”.
