Until now, 「이 한국어 통역 되나요?」 has explored Korean expressions and the cultural meanings behind them.

Starting with this episode, we’re taking a slightly different approach! ✨
Instead of focusing only on the cultural meaning of Korean expressions, we’re bringing you the Korean you actually encounter in everyday life in Korea — through images.

Because sometimes, seeing Korean in a real-life context can make it easier and more natural to understand. 👀
You know the feeling when you’re in Korea and suddenly see a Korean sign that looks like:

You might recognize a few Korean words, but putting them together in a real-life sign can be a whole different story. 😂

You’ll find expressions like these in museums, subway stations, elevators, restaurants, parking lots, and all kinds of public places around Korea.
And they’re not just “Korean words to memorize.”
They’re part of the Korean you naturally encounter IRL. 👀

Hello JK Korean learners! 👋

Have you ever received a Korean message like “ㅋㅋㅋ”, “ㅎㅎ”, or “ㅠㅠ” and wondered what the person really meant? 👀

If you’re learning Korean, you may already know that ㅋㅋ is commonly used to express laughter and ㅠㅠ represents crying. But Korean texting has a little more nuance than that. 🤔

For example:
👉 ㅋㅋ can mean “LOL,” but it can also make a message feel more playful or casual.
👉 ㅎㅎ can make a message sound softer, warmer, or friendlier.
👉 ㅠㅠ can express sadness, frustration, sympathy, or even an exaggerated reaction.
And the number of characters can matter, too!

ㅋㅋㅋ
ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

They may all express laughter, but they don’t necessarily give off exactly the same feeling. 😂

This is one reason why understanding Korean goes beyond simply translating words. Sometimes, the little expressions people add to a message can tell you just as much as the words themselves. 💬

In the fourth episode of 「이 한국어 통역 되나요?」, we’re taking a closer look at ㅋㅋ, ㅎㅎ, and ㅠㅠ and the different emotions and nuances they can carry in Korean conversations.

What does “밥 한번 먹어요” really mean? 🍚👀
You might think it simply means, “Let’s have dinner sometime.”

But in Korea, it can mean more than that. 🤔
Sometimes, “밥 한번 먹어요” means:
🍚 “Let’s actually eat together!”
But sometimes, it can simply mean:
👋 “It was nice seeing you!”
🤝 “Let’s stay in touch!”

So… should you save the date? 👀
Just like “눈치,” understanding this expression means looking beyond the words and reading the context.
