Online Release: 2-Day Discoursive Public Program 𝑫𝒆𝒂𝒓 𝑶𝒄𝒆𝒂𝒏 𝑭𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒔

The 2-day discursive program 𝑫𝒆𝒂𝒓 𝑶𝒄𝒆𝒂𝒏 𝑭𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒔, which was held on June 26 and 27 at Ocean Space and Palazzo di Malta - Ordine di Malta in Venice, Italy, as part of the special exhibition 𝙀𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮 𝙄𝙨𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙞𝙨 𝙖 𝙈𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙞𝙣 celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Korean Pavilion at the Venice Biennale, will be available online on the official website and YouTube channel of ARKO Art Center().

𝑫𝒆𝒂𝒓 𝑶𝒄𝒆𝒂𝒏 𝑭𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒔 is a forum for public discussion designed to confront urgent global issues and reorganize the role and model of the Biennale beyond the existing paradigm. The online release of 𝑫𝒆𝒂𝒓 𝑶𝒄𝒆𝒂𝒏 𝑭𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒔 consists of two videos: Part , “Monsoon Futurism: (Post)Anthropocene Asian Futurism,” with contributors Chih-Chung Chang, Young-kyung Baek, Ute Meta Bauer, Markus Reymann, and IkkibawiKrrr; and Part , “(Post)Anthropocene Institutions – Is Another World Possible?” with DESIGN EARTH, Colin Sterling, Eleonora Sovrani, Joasia Krysa, Philippe Pirotte & Vera Mey, and Jade Keunhye Lim.

드리프팅 커리큘럼(driftingcurriculum.org)은 드리프팅 커리큘럼 북스(driftingcurriculum.org/books)를 런칭해 첫 번째 E-Book으로 『전소정: The One Work』을 더플로어플랜과 공동 출판했습니다.

『전소정: The One Work』는 문화체육관광부와 한국문화예술위원회의 후원으로 2022년 5월부터 2024년 1월까지 진행해 온 의 결과물로 출간된 연구 비평집입니다.
본 출판물은 그 어느 곳에도 영원히 정박할 수 없는 망망대해로 독자-관객들을 이끌며 쉽게 해명되지 않는 작품들과 비평의 생산에 집중되었던 전소정의 예술 세계에 잠시 거처할 임시 천막을 세우는 작업으로, 한 명의 연구자가 하나의 작품을 중심으로 본연의 작품 연구에 몰두해 학술적 의미를 지니는 에세이를 생산했습니다.
공동책임연구자인 조주현, 이수정은 최근 100년 동안 근대 인류사의 가장 큰 전환점이 된 순간, 코로나 팬데믹의 한복판에 작가가 서 있던 그 지점에서 연구를 제안하였고, 주 연구자로 참여한 마정연과 김성은은 각각 영상 미디어와 인류학적 기반의 심도 있는 미술 비평을 통해 물리적, 신체적 이동의 제한, 실제 공간과 온라인 공간의 교차가 가속화되었던 ‘2021년’이라는 구체적 시공간에서 제작된 두 개의 작품 (2021)과 (2021)을 중심으로 한 연구를 진행했습니다.
이 밖에도 해외 필자 자넷 비숍(Jeanette Bisschops), 마틴 게르만(Martin Germann)의 인터뷰와 에세이, 김남시, 안소연, 허호정의 글을 재수록하여 주요 작품들을 소개한 본 출판물은 전소정 작업의 비평적 지도 그리기에 주요한 길잡이가 될 것입니다.

법이 부당할 때 우리는 법을 재판에 회부해야 합니다. 이것은 학자, 작가, 변호사, 활동가인 라다 드수자Radha D'Souza와 예술가 요나스 스탈Jonas Staal의 프로젝트 CICC(세대간 기후 범죄 재판소)를 소개하는 전시 의 핵심 주제입니다.

드수자와 스탈은 과거 서울시민들을 위한 석유 저장고였던 문화비축기지 T4에 석유 배럴 타워와 식민 시대부터 현재에 이르기까지 멸종된 동물의 이미지들로 구성된 몰입형 설치 작업을 선보이며, 국가와 기업들이 저지른 기후 범죄를 기소하기 위해 ‘세대 간 기후 범죄법(The Intergenerational Climate Crimes Act)’이라는 새로운 법적 틀을 제시합니다.

When the law is unjust, we must put the law on trial. This is the central thesis of the exhibition The Law on Trial, which introduces the project Court for Intergenerational Climate Crimes (CICC) by academic, writer, lawyer and activist Radha D’Souza and artist Jonas Staal at the Oil Tank Culture Park, Seoul. In an immersive installation consisting of towers of oil barrels and images of animals that have been made extinct from the colonial period to the present, D’Souza and Staal present a new legal framework in the form of The Intergenerational Climate Crimes Act to prosecute climate crimes committed by states and corporations alike.
The Intergenerational Climate Crimes Act - a new legal imaginary that centers on intergenerationality, interdependency and regeneration across the human and non-human world; - a vision not of the law, but of justice, in which humans, animals and plants gather as comrades to regenerate the world anew.

CICC는 라다 드수자의 저서『권리에는 어떤 문제가 있는가? (What’s Wrong With Rights?)』(2018)를 기반으로 드수자와 스탈이 2021년에 설립했습니다. 이들은 국가와 기업이 과거와 현재뿐만 아니라 미래까지 영향을 미친 기후 범죄를 기소하는 것을 목표로 합니다.
드수자가 제안하는 ‘세대간 기후 범죄법(Intergenerational Climate Crimes Act)’는 인간과 비인간 세계에 걸친 세대 간 상호 의존성, 회생을 중심으로 하는 새로운 법적 상상입니다. 이 법의 비전은 궁극적으로 법이 아닌 정의, 인간과 동물과 식물이 동지들로 모여 세상을 새롭게 재건하는 것입니다.
The CICC was founded by D’Souza and Staal in 2021, based on D’Souza’s book What’s Wrong With Rights? (2018), with the aim to prosecute climate crimes committed by states and corporations, not only in the past and present, but also in the future.

‘그린뉴딜을 위한 탈식민적 큐레이토리얼 어젠다’는 2022년 드리프팅 커리큘럼(Drifting Curriculum)에서 발족한 협의체입니다. 이 유연한 플랫폼은 학교, 박물관, 미술관 등 세계적으로 수많은 문화 기관들이 직면한 탈식민화와 탈탄소화에 대한 긴급한 요청에 대응하여, 대안적 형태의 배움과 새로운 실천의 장소로서 구상되었습니다.
오는 11월 15일, 16일 아트선재센터 에서 진행되는 본 Summit에는 박물관학자이며 암스테르담대학 교수인 Colin Sterling, 런던 UCL 교수인 Rodney Harrison, 인도출신의 법학자이자 변호사, 활동가인 Radha D’Souza, KASIT 인류세연구센터 센터장 박범순 교수, 최명애 교수 등을 비롯해 5명의 연구진 등이 패널로 참여하고, 아티스트 그룹인 Unmake Lab의 렉처 퍼포먼스, 시인/사회학자 심보선과 아티스트 최태윤의 토크, 재난학교 프레젠테이션 등의 프로그램으로 구성되어 이틀간 진행됩니다.

“Decolonial Curatorial Agenda for the Green New Deal(DCAG)” is an art-research collective launched by the Drifting Curriculum in 2022. This flexible platform was conceived as an alternative form of learning and new practice, in response to urgent requests for decolonization and decarbonization faced by numerous cultural institutions around the world, including schools, museums, and art galleries.
At the Summit held at Mobile Agora of Art Sonje Center on November 15th and 16th, Colin Sterling, a museologist and a professor at the University of Amsterdam, Rodney Harrison, a professor at UCL London, Radha D’Souza, a Professor of Law at University of Westminster and a writer, lawyer, critical scholar, Buhm Soon Park a scientific historian and a director of the Center for Anthropocene Studies in KAIST, and so on will be participating in the panel. There will be a two-day program including a lecture performance by the artist group Unmake Lab, a talk by poet/sociologist Bosun Shim and artist Taeyoon Choi, and Disaster Haggyo presentation.

Drifting Curriculum 온라인플랫폼/저널 발간 OPEN! 🎉

Decolonial Curatorial Agenda for the Green New Deal (DCAG), a consultative body launched by Drifting Curriculum in 2022, is an art-research collective that raises questions about the fundamental way the international community and government deal with climate crises, resource depletion, and environmental issues, and organizes critical art circles to control ecological crises.
On the online platform (www.driftingcurriculum.org), centered around 10 board members working in Asia and Europe studying discourse of the Anthropocene in various fields such as art, science, sociology, anthropology, law and philosophy around 40 team members consisted of scholars, curators, artists, activists and lawyers, attempted artistic intervention in policy, legislative and institutional issues against disasters and climate crises, and created 7 agendas. Now, we are publishing Journal ISSUE 1~7 to share our research and art practice on each agenda that has been underway for a year.

2022년 드리프팅 커리큘럼(Drifting Curriculum)에서 발족하는 협의체 ‘그린뉴딜을 위한 탈식민적 큐레이토리얼 의제(DCAG)’는 국제사회와 정부 또는 기관이 기후위기나 자원고갈 및 환경문제를 다루는 근본적인 방식에 대한 의문을 던지며, 비평적 내러티브를 구성해 다종적 연대를 실천해 나가는 아트-리서치 콜렉티브입니다.
온라인 플랫폼(www.driftingcurriculum.org)에서는 아시아와 유럽 등지에서 활동하며 예술, 과학, 사회학, 인류학, 법학, 철학 등 여러 분야에서 인류세 담론을 연구하는 10명의 보드를 중심으로, 학자, 큐레이터, 아티스트, 활동가, 변호사 등으로 구성된 초기 멤버 40여 팀이 재난과 기후위기에 대한 정책적, 입법적, 제도적 문제에 예술적 개입을 시도해 7개의 어젠다를 만들었고, 1년 동안 진행해 온 각각의 의제에 관한 자신들의 연구와 예술실천을 공유하고자 저널 ISSUE 1~7을 발간합니다.
