김대관 작가는 캔버스와 유리라는 서로 다른 물성의 표면을 넘나들며 고유한 회화 세계를 확장해오고 있다.
그의 작품에는 자연에 대한 사유와 기억의 편린이 흐르는 시간의 연속성이 스며 있다. 캔버스 위에 물감 안료를 떨어뜨려 형성된 점들은 물 위의 윤슬을 연상시키며 어떠한 순간들이 응축된 요소처럼 존재한다. 엷은 안료를 묻힌 붓이 그 표면 위를 수 차례 지나가며 중첩되어 생성된 색과 면에는 겹겹이 축적된 기억과 감정의 깊이가 느껴진다.
투명한 물성을 지닌 유리 회화의 점, 선, 면, 색은 빛의 투과와 반사를 통해 정지된 화면의 이미지가 아닌 시간의 흐름 속에서 변주되는 감각으로 확장된다.
그의 회화는 화면을 보는 행위를 시간을 감각하는 경험으로 전환시키며 인식의 방식을 재구성한다.
Daekwan Kim expands his painterly practice by moving between the distinct material surfaces of canvas and glass.
His works carry a sense of temporal continuity—infused with contemplations of nature and fragments of memory. The points formed by dropping pigment onto the canvas evoke shimmering reflections of light on water, appearing as if each were a condensed element of a particular moment. Layers of diluted pigment, brushed repeatedly across the surface, accumulate into planes of color that convey a depth of memory and emotion.
In his glass paintings, points, lines, planes, and colors—given material transparency—extend into an experience of time through the transmission and reflection of light.
His work transforms the act of viewing into an experience of time, reconfiguring perception itself.
