박정현은 우리가 쉽게 볼 수 없고, 단번에 이해할 수 없는 ‘진실’과 ‘본질’에 대해 질문한다. 눈에 보이는 것은 빙산의 일부에 불과하며, 수면 아래 감춰진 층위에 더 많은 의미가 존재한다는 인식에서 그의 작업은 출발한다.

지나친 편리함이 오히려 또 다른 불편을 낳는 시대 속에서, 그는 한국적 회화성과 서구적 공간 인식을 교차시키며 회화와 디자인의 경계를 넘나든다.

‘Uncomfortable Design / Functional Art’라는 역설적 개념은 그의 작업을 관통하는 핵심이다. 기능적이어야 할 디자인은 불편해지고, 비기능적이라 여겨지는 예술은 오히려 기능을 획득한다. 이 긴장 속에서 그는 예술과 디자인의 속성과 범위를 다시 묻는다.

박정현의 작업은 삶과 예술의 경계에서 발생하는 모순과 부족함을 통해, 오히려 새로운 포용의 가능성을 탐색한다.

Park Junghyun questions truths and essences that are not immediately visible or easily understood. Like an iceberg, only a small fraction is seen above the surface, while deeper layers remain hidden beneath. His work begins with an awareness of these unseen dimensions.

In an age where excessive convenience often produces new forms of discomfort, Park navigates between Korean painterly sensibilities and Western spatial perception, crossing the boundaries of painting and design.

The paradoxical concept of “Uncomfortable Design / Functional Art” lies at the core of his practice. Design, expected to be functional, becomes uncomfortable; art, often considered non-functional, acquires function. Within this tension, he reconsiders the attributes and limits of both art and design.

Through contradiction and perceived insufficiency, Park explores new possibilities that emerge along the boundary between life and art..

유의정은 전통 도자의 물성과 현대적 감각을 교차시키며, 과거와 현재가 공존하는 새로운 조형 언어를 구축해온 작가다. 박물관의 한 장면을 연상시키는 신(新)백자 작업을 통해 장인의 숙련된 기술과 동시대 미술의 감각을 하나의 화면 안에 병치한다.

작가는 백자의 백색과 유약, 그리고 그 위에 얹힌 색과 이미지를 통해 시간의 층위를 드러낸다. 핑크 컬러와 청화 모란 등 전통적 상징 요소는 단순한 재현을 넘어 오늘날의 미적 감수성과 결합하며, 한국 현대미술의 확장된 가능성을 제시한다.

유의정의 작업은 전통을 답습하는 데 머무르지 않고 재해석을 통해 도자가 현대미술의 언어로 기능할 수 있음을 조용하지만 분명하게 보여준다.

Yoo Eui Jung is an artist who constructs a new sculptural language in which the materiality of traditional ceramics intersects with contemporary sensibility, allowing past and present to coexist. Through her New Baekja works—evocative of museum artifacts—she juxtaposes refined craftsmanship with the visual language of contemporary art within a single surface.

By working with the whiteness of porcelain, layers of glaze, and images and colors applied atop them, Yoo reveals stratified temporalities embedded in the work. Traditional motifs such as pink hues and blue-and-white peonies move beyond mere reproduction, merging with contemporary aesthetics to propose expanded possibilities within Korean contemporary art.

Rather than inheriting tradition in a linear sense, Yoo’s practice reinterprets it, quietly yet decisively demonstrating how ceramics can function as a language of contemporary art.

TANC는 그래피티의 즉흥적 제스처와 현대 회화의 구조적 감각을 결합하며, 리듬을 중심으로 한 독자적인 추상 회화 세계를 구축해왔다. 거리에서 비롯된 빠르고 직관적인 움직임은 화면 위에서 보다 조직된 회화적 언어로 전환되며, 즉흥성과 정밀함이 공존하는 긴장감을 형성한다.

대담한 색채의 전환과 생동하는 붓 터치, 음악적 비트처럼 흐르는 속도감은 작업 전반에 강한 에너지를 부여한다. 기계음악의 반복되는 박자, 자연에서 포착한 색의 리듬, 심장의 박동과도 같은 신체적 감각은 하나의 흐름으로 연결되며, 작가 특유의 밀도 높은 시각 언어를 만들어낸다.

강렬한 움직임 속에서도 화면에는 미묘한 고요가 공존한다. 서양 회화의 행위성과 동양적 사유에서 비롯된 정신성이 겹쳐지는 지점에서, TANC의 회화는 단순한 제스처를 넘어 감각과 리듬이 응축된 추상적 공간으로 확장된다.

TANC merges the improvisational gestures of graffiti with the structural sensibilities of contemporary painting, developing a rhythm-centered approach to abstraction. Gestures rooted in speed and intuition are translated into a refined pictorial language, creating a sustained tension where spontaneity and precision coexist.

Bold chromatic shifts, animated brushwork, and a pulse-like sense of tempo infuse the works with kinetic energy. Electronic beats, natural hues, and the cadence of the heartbeat converge into a continuous flow, forming TANC’s dense and distinctive visual language.

Within this intensity resides a subtle stillness. At the intersection of Western performativity and Eastern sensibility, TANC’s painting expands beyond gesture, unfolding into an abstract space where rhythm, movement, and contemplation coexist.

탕크의 회화는 기계음악의 비트가 만들어내는 손의 움직임, 자연의 색감과 풍경에서 오는 시각적 자극에서 출발한다. 즉흥적 상태 속에서 그는 특유의 밀도와 정확성을 동시에 얻으며, 마치 심장의 리듬이 손끝을 이끄는 듯한 몰입의 순간을 만들어낸다.

TANC‘s painting begins with the hand movement created by the beat of mechanical music, the visual stimulation from the natural colors and scenery. In an improvised state, he simultaneously acquires unique density and accuracy, creating a moment of immersion as if the rhythm of the heart leads the fingertips.

프랑스 파리 출생의 street 작가로 시작한 추상화가 ‘TANC’의 본명은 Tancred Perrot (b.1979)이다. 이미 전 세계를 돌며 작품을 선보인 그는, 초기 작품에서 어느 누구도 예상 못한 과감한 색감과 살아 움직이는 듯한 역동적인 붓 터치, 이 모든 것들이 환상적인 하모니를 이루는 액션페인팅으로 이름을 알리기 시작했다. 그의 작품은 기계 음악적 비트에서 오는 손의 움직임과 자연의 아름다운 색감, 풍경에서 주로 많은 영감을 받았다. 즉흥적 상태 안에서 그는 특유의 밀도와 정확성을 얻게 되며 심장의 리듬이 그의 손을 움직이게 한다. 

The real name of ‘TANC’, an abstract painter who started out as a street artist born in Paris, France, is Tancred Perrot (b.1979). Having already exhibited his work around the world, he began to become known for his action paintings, which combine bold colors and dynamic brush strokes that no one expected in his early works, all of which create fantastic harmony. His work is mainly inspired by hand movements from mechanical musical beats and the beautiful colors and landscapes of nature. In a state of improvisation, he acquires a characteristic density and precision, and the rhythm of his heart moves his hands.

갤러리CNK는 street(graffiti) 작가로 시작한 프랑스 파리 출생의 탱크 TANC_탱크레드 페로 Tancred Perrot(본명)의 개인전을 개최한다.
그는 유럽뿐 아니라 아시아 등 세계적으로 활동하며 과감한 색감과 즉흥적이고 역동적인 터치의 액션페인팅으로 알려져 있다. 그의 작품은 기계 음악의 비트에서 오는 본능적인 움직임과 자연에서 느끼는 원초적 기운에서 영감을 받아 생동감 넘치는 추상 세계를 보여준다.
예술가 집안에서 자란 그는 부모의 도구로 놀며 판타지 피규어를 칠했고, 청소년기 바스키아(Basquiat)를 통해 감정으로 그리는 법을 알게 되었다. 그래피티와 레터링을 시작한 그는 아티스트 라틀라스(L’Atlas)와 만나 함께 ‘VAO(Visions Abstraites et Optiques)’라는 크루를
결성하고 거리의 대형 포스터와 캔버스를 오가며 예술의 경계를 확장했다. 당시 그에게 그래피티는 자신을 표현하는 배출구였으며 이후 작품에 힘과 리듬, 액션 이상의 감정을 더하는 계기가 되었다.
이번 전시에서는 층마다 조금 다른 액션의 작품들로 배치된다. 전시장 1층에는 그의 대표적 작품 경향이기도 한 퍼포먼스적인 행위의 작품에 그 이미지들을 다시 재배치하여 또 다른 차원의 공간감을 보여주는 신작들로 채워진다. 전시장 2층과 3층 공간에서는 물감을 흘려내리듯 뿌려서 색의 폭포수와 같은 대형 작품들과 수업 시간 낙서에서 영감을 받아 글을 쓰듯 무의식적인 행위를 반복하며 제작된 그의 또 다른 대표작들, 그리고 그의 액션으로 끝없는 공간감과 깊이를 보여주는 Landscape abstract blue 작품들이 마치 예술 작품이 펼쳐지는 파리의 거리를 거니는 듯 설치되어 있다.
