검게 쌓인 화면 위로 낯설고도 익숙한 문자들이 떠오른다.

이정의 작업에서 문자는 단순한 기록 수단이 아니다. 세상을 읽고 해석하며 표현하는 모든 과정이 곧 하나의 ‘쓰고 읽는 행위’이다. 작가는 퍼티를 여러 차례 쌓아 올린 뒤 먹으로 글씨를 쓰고 새기는 과정을 반복하며 화면을 완성했다.

작품에 등장하는 일(日)·월(月)·화(火)·수(水)·목(木)·금(金)·토(土)는 자연을 구성하는 원리이자 인간이 세계를 이해하기 위해 만들어온 오래된 언어의 흔적들이다. 글자는 의미를 전달하는 기호를 넘어 시간과 기억, 삶의 리듬을 담아내는 조형적 형상으로 확장된다.

작가는 우주(宇宙)라는 거대한 개념을 멀리서 찾지 않는다. 집을 뜻하는 ‘宀’ 아래에서 시작된 문자들은 결국 우리가 살아가는 공간과 시간, 기억과 관계를 향한다.

〈오행 2026-1〉은 반복하여 쓰고 새기는 행위를 통해 삶의 질서를 읽어내고, 집이라는 작은 우주 안에 깃든 시간의 흔적을 기록한 작업이다.

Emerging from a dense black surface, symbolic characters appear as traces of time and memory.

For Lee Jeong, writing is not merely a means of recording but a way of reading and interpreting the world. Built through repeated layers of putty and ink inscriptions, the work embodies a process of accumulation, contemplation, and transformation.

The symbols representing the Sun, Moon, Fire, Water, Wood, Metal, and Earth evoke ancient systems through which humans sought to understand the order of the universe. Through repeated acts of writing and carving, the work transforms language into a record of lived experience.

문자를 바탕으로 작업하는 이정은 세상을 읽고 해석하며 표현하는 모든 과정을 하나의 ‘쓰고 읽는 행위’로 바라본다.

이번 전시에서 작가는 갤러리 공간을 현대적인 한옥으로 상정하고, 공간 전체를 하나의 문장이자 한 권의 책처럼 읽고 써 내려간다. 문자와 기호, 오브제와 공간은 서로 연결되며 하나의 서사를 만들어낸다.

전시의 주제인 ‘면면(宀宀)’은 집의 지붕(宀)들이 서로 맞닿아 있는 형상이자, 삶의 구석구석을 면면히 살피고 기록하려는 시선을 의미한다.

작가에게 집은 단순한 건축물이 아니다. 기억이 머물고 시간이 쌓이며 관계가 형성되는 하나의 언어적 공간이다. 이번 전시에서 관람자는 공간 곳곳에 놓인 문자와 흔적들을 따라가며, 하나의 집을 읽고 하나의 문장을 완성하게 된다.

이정의 작업은 읽기와 쓰기, 기억과 공간, 언어와 삶이 만나는 지점을 탐구한다. 익숙한 집의 형상을 통해 우리는 자신이 살아온 시간과 기억의 층위를 다시 마주하게 된다.

Lee Jung approaches every act of perceiving, interpreting, and expressing the world as a process of reading and writing.

For this exhibition, the artist imagines the gallery as a contemporary hanok, transforming the entire space into a sentence and a book to be read and written simultaneously. Letters, symbols, objects, and architectural elements become interconnected fragments of a larger narrative.

The exhibition's central concept, “Myeonmyeon (宀宀),” evokes the image of rooftops touching one another while also suggesting a careful observation of the many layers and corners of everyday life.

For Lee, a house is not merely an architectural structure but a linguistic space where memories settle, time accumulates, and relationships take shape. As visitors move through the exhibition, they encounter traces, texts, and forms that invite them to read the house and complete its story.

Lee Jung's work explores the intersection of language, memory, space, and lived experience, encouraging viewers to rediscover the layered narratives embedded within familiar places.

태양빛처럼 사방으로 확장되는 자유로운 붓질과 흘러내리는 물감의 흔적들은 하나의 고정된 형상을 넘어 유동하는 ‘Atopos’적 존재로 변화하며, 보이는 세계 너머의 경계와 감각을 암시합니다. 윤혜진은 즉흥성과 물질의 흐름 속에서 생명과 에너지의 근원적 상태를 시각화합니다.

Haejin Yoon’s Rising Sun symbolizes the primal energy of the sun — the source of life — exploring instinctive vitality and spirituality through bold color and intuitive forms. The radiant red sun hovering above acts as a powerful center of energy, while the black silhouette below is filled with archetypal patterns and symbols of peace, merging primitive iconography with a contemporary graffiti-like sensibility.

Expanding brushstrokes and dripping paint radiate outward like sunlight, transforming into fluid “Atopos”-like beings that transcend fixed identity. Through spontaneity and material flow, Yoon visualizes an elemental state of life, energy, and existence beyond visible boundaries.

작품 ⟪Flowers Blossom 2⟫는 꽃과 행성의 형상을 교차시키며 우주적 존재를 의인화합니다. 화면 중앙의 얼굴은 만개한 꽃잎처럼 펼쳐지는 동시에, 곡선의 줄기와 흐르는 색채는 행성의 궤도와 우주의 움직임을 연상시킵니다. 작가는 강렬한 네온 컬러와 역동적인 붓질을 통해 우주와 자연의 개화가 하나로 연결된 상태를 드러내며, 신비로운 ‘꽃의 정령’ 혹은 ‘살아있는 행성’의 초상처럼 화면을 구성합니다.

Haejin Yoon’s solo exhibition ATOPOS : Beyond Place takes its point of departure from the notion of “Atopos”—that which cannot be fixed—presenting paintings that traverse the boundaries of place and form.

In Flowers Blossom 2, Yoon merges the imagery of flowers and planets to anthropomorphize a cosmic being. The central face unfolds like a blooming flower, while sweeping curves and flowing colors evoke planetary orbits and celestial motion. Through vivid neon colors and energetic brushwork, the artist visualizes a world in which the blossoming of nature and the cosmos become inseparably intertwined, creating the portrait of a mysterious “flower spirit” or “living planet.”

In Love, Yoon intuitively visualizes Roland Barthes’ idea of “Atopos” — a beloved presence that cannot be fully defined through language or categorization. The word “LOVE” at the center of the canvas dissolves through rough brushstrokes and dripping paint, releasing the image from fixed meaning and returning it to a more primal emotional state. Intense colors and energetic collisions create the aura of an unclassifiable presence — ATOPOS.

윤혜진 작가의 개인전이 시작되었습니다.

《ATOPOS : Beyond Place》는 ‘어디에도 고정되지 않는 것’을 의미하는 ‘Atopos’를 화두로, 장소와 형상의 경계를 넘나드는 회화 작업을 선보입니다.

작가는 자유드로잉을 기반으로 즉흥성과 우연 속에서 형상이 생성되는 과정을 탐구해왔으며, 특정한 대상으로 환원되지 않는 유동적인 이미지들을 통해 새로운 감각의 층위를 제시합니다.

뉴욕 Parsons School of Design에서 Fine Arts, BFA, MFA를 졸업한 윤혜진은 브루클린을 중심으로 활동하며 주목받아왔으며, 평론가 로베르타 스미스는 그의 작업을 “추상과 구상의 경계를 넘나드는 예측 불가능한 형상을 탁월하게 구현한다”고 평가한 바 있습니다.

박정현은 급변하는 시대를 살아가는 현대인들의 내면을 조용하지만 강한 시각언어로 표현한다. 작가는 굳이 불편한 선택을 감수하는 용기에서 인간다움을 찾는다. 작품은 참여를 요청하되 강요하지 않으며, 선택의 순간을 드러낸다.
이번 전시에서는 참여형 작품을 설치하여 인간이 누리는 불편함의 가치를 체험을 통해 경험하게 한다. 2층 공간에 설치된 작품의 휠 위 패널에는 ‘LOOK’, ‘TO’, ‘DEEPLY’, ‘SEE’라는 단어들이 여덟 등분으로 되어 있고, 이는 전체의 일부만 보여주는 점에 불과하다. 관객이 적당한 속도로 페달을 굴리면, 흩어졌던 점들은 잔상 효과를 통해 선으로 연결되며 하나의 문장으로 떠오른다. 이는 단순히 정답을 얻는 과정이 아니라, 자신의 의지로 불편함을 선택하고 즐기는 인간의 주체적인 자유를 확인하는 과정이다.

Park Jung-hyun expresses the inner lives of modern people living in a rapidly changing era through a quiet yet powerful visual language. The artist finds humanity in the courage to deliberately endure uncomfortable choices. The work invites participation without coercion, revealing the moment of choice.

In this exhibition, participatory artworks are installed to allow viewers to experience the value of human discomfort through hands-on activity. On the panels atop the wheel of the artwork installed in the second-floor space, the words ‘LOOK,’ ‘TO,’ ‘DEEPLY,’ and ‘SEE’ are divided into eight sections; these are merely dots showing only a part of the whole. When the audience pedals at an appropriate speed, the scattered dots connect into lines through afterimage effects, emerging as a single sentence. This is not simply a process of obtaining the correct answer, but a process of confirming the subjective freedom of humans who choose and enjoy uncomfort of their own free will.
