극단 밖은 근현대 역사가 공존하는 부산의 거리 공간을 무대로 관객과 소통하고자 2016년 창단 되었다. 배우의 신체로 구현될 수 있는 연극적 언어를 개발하고자 장르 예술가들과 협업 해오며 연극적 실험을 지속하고 있다.
또한 아시아 예술가들과의 활발한 국제교류 활동을 이어가고 있으며 이들과 함께 부산의 상징적인 도시공간에서 전례 없는 작품을 선보이고 있다. 2022년부터 부산광역시가 지원하는 원도심 창작공간 또따또가 입주단체로 활동하고 있다.

2022년 ‘Asia Meets Asia – 아시아 9개 도시 연합 공연 - Unbearable Dreams12 – Still Drifting’ 에서는 팬데믹 이후 더욱 어려움을 겪고 있는 아시아의 난민문제를 주제로 공동 협연 하였다.
