MEET THE ARTIST!

Meet Inès L. Mollard Zaïdi (Inès Mollard Zaïdi ) an artist, who radiates true French charm combined with sharp mind and kind heart.

Inès Mollard Zaïdi is a French artist based in Paris. Her practice focuses on the body and its environment as interconnected territories, shaped and transformed by external forces.

During her residency at Naughty Muse Studios, she researched and experimented with new approaches to her practice, including developing a large-scale work that brings together painting, textile and installation.

Her work is currently presented at the GoEun Museum of Photography in Busan in the group exhibition Archéologie du présent, on view through August 30.

MEET THE ARTIST!

Meet Jim Vieille ( Jim Vieille ) an artist with unique attention to details and respect to his work.

Jim Vieille is a French photographer whose work explores the relationship between people and their urban environment.

During his residency at Naughty Muse Studios, he produced a photographic series inspired by the striking juxtaposition of mountains, vegetation and vertical housing in Busan.

What he initially saw as austere and uniform residential landscapes gradually revealed an unexpected balance between towering residential blocks, human life and nature.

His work is currently presented at the GoEun Museum of Photography in Busan in the group show Archéologie du présent, on view through August 30.

Group exhibition at Naughty Muse Studios!

As a part of the first Busan Art Space Festival ( 다면적실험실,부산 ) we are honored to present a group exhibition of wonderful Busan based artists within Naughty Muse Studios walls.

We are the art residency. We are the space where ideas are flourishing. We are the space where art works are created. And for two weeks in September we will be the space where those ideas and works are presented.

“OTHERS”

The exhibition asks what happens when the artificial world no longer feels artificial — when separation from nature becomes preference, and we no longer miss what has been replaced.

The exhibition does not offer answers. It asks whether the question “how to reconnect?” is one we are still asking, or one we have quietly, comfortably, allowed to lapse.

MEET THE ARTIST!!!

Meet Jana LaChance ( JanaLaChance ) — an artist from the USA with very atmospheric and emotional works.

“My work explores the hidden emotional and inner realities beneath outward appearances. Through metaphorical figuration and altered color, I transform relationships between people, forms, and space. In these shifting relationships, distorted figures, landscapes, and imagined presences make invisible experiences visible.

I am interested in states of potential and the slow accumulation that precedes transformation. My work lingers in periods of waiting, uncertainty, and becoming, when things have not yet settled into a fixed form. Natural forces, shadows, recurring motifs, and figures still taking shape become active participants within these spaces. Here, inner and outer worlds begin to overlap, creating the conditions through which transformation becomes possible.

Color functions as expressive language. I shift between observation and invention to construct worlds that feel psychologically true rather than strictly realistic. Through this shifting visual language, I explore how wonder, longing, and acts of self-enchantment shape the layered and often hidden processes through which people come to understand themselves and the worlds they inhabit.”

On July 15th, we were trusted to host the “Asia to Asia” Networking Event, co-organized by the Busan Cultural Foundation ( 부산문화재단 ) and Arts Council Korea (한국문화예술위원회(Arts Council Korea) | 아르코 ARKO) as part of ARKO’s Global South Initiative.

This special evening brought together international cultural leaders and local creators to spark new collaborations and build sustainable art networks across Asia.

MEET THE ARTIST!

Meet Kaitlyn (Kaiti) McGinn ( Kaiti McGinn ) a soft and kind fiber artist from Michigan, USA.

Kaiti’s process includes natural dyes for color and print making with a combination of hand and machine stitching. She is drawn to the historical way quilting has empowered women across generations to build community, resist harm, and share stories within the United States.

In the studio Kaiti has explored appliqué strategies to depict images, both literal and symbolic, played with different natural fibers like silk, linen, and cotton to achieve different textures.

MEET THE ARTIST!

Pink, pink, and even more pink! That is Kathleen O’Hara ( Kathleen O’Hara ) a young artist from the USA.

In her art Kathleen focuses on depicting a broad range of identities, particularly those that are less often represented within art and media. She depicts figures, primarily AFAB (assigned female at birth) or fem-presenting people.
Kathleen works with acrylic and gouache paint on paper and wood panels. She often works with found and thrifted objects, and likes repurposing used materials and bringing new life to them. Kathleen enjoys working with texture, layering paint so that it comes off the canvas in chunky brushstrokes.

She uses mainly bright colors, and tends to use a lot of pinks and purples. Kathleen’s art is also very inspired by the punk movement and she enjoys finding ways to incorporate elements of punk culture within a more feminine color scheme.

Naughty Muse Art and Culture Trips!

Every month we organize several trips to museums, studios, galleries or cultural sites for our residents. Some of the most enjoyable times of the residency! And we do get requests to join those trips. Unfortunately, our vehicle capacity is limited. So, starting this August we will organize one trip a month for non-residents!

Every last Wednesday of the month you can join us for an artistic or cultural trip. What will happen:

You sing up in advance.

You commit to showing up.

You meet people.

You do not know the destination(s).

We visit places.

We talk about what we see.

We have lunch.

We come back.

It is free of charge.
