Originally comprised of members from Singapore, New Zealand, Philippines and the United States, NIGHTMARE A.D. was birthed in the fringes of Phnom Penh in early 2014, and has since evolved into an Extreme Metal act that has tested its mettle in countless venues within the Indochina region.
The band released an EP in 2016, titled “Corruptors” licensed to local label Yab Moung Records on CD in 2016, along with official merchandise. It was later re-released on cassette with bonus tracks and new artwork under Toxic Death Records (China) in 2018.
NIGHTMARE A.D. has been featured in The Phnom Penh Post, The Cambodia Daily, Khmer Times, Kerrang!, Bandcamp, UniteAsia.org as well as various independent music magazines around the world. They have played with international acts such as IMPLORE (Germany), NERVOCHAOS (Brazil), HEXIS (Denmark), EARTHISTS (Japan), CAMBODIAN SPACE PROJECT (Cambodia), WINDRUNNER (Vietnam), DIDIER WAMPAS (France), CÚT LỘN (Vietnam), ...AND YOU WILL KNOW US BY THE TRIAL OF DEAD (United States), EVERY RAGE I SEEK (Singapore), LITURGY (United States) and many more.
In 2018, the band released their 2nd EP “Phantoms of our Ruin”. The EP took a year to complete and it was a departure from their previous crossover style, incorporating elements of sludge, death metal and new wave. This was the first release to feature keyboards in order to achieve their new sound, and was licensed and released in 2018 on CD by Tenzenmen (Australia)/Terr-Records (Malaysia). The band also recorded a cover of “Gimme Danger” for “Angkor Pop!” an IGGY POP Cambodian tribute album released on LP by Highly Bongable Records (Australia) in 2019.
NIGHTMARE A.D. will be releasing their full-length LP “Caricatures of a Delusion” in 2026.
