.Taprohm Silk is a socially motivated business that provides Fairly Traded, high quality unique silk fashion accessories and homewares to local and International markets. We do this while providing vocational training and employment opportunities for vulnerable people.
Owner: Mrs. At 18, she started vocational training as a tailor in the Maryknol Skill Training Program at Wat Than, where she als
o received help with her prosthesis. Kong then worked for the National Center for Disabled Persons in Phnom Penh, where she assisted people with disabilities in QC, skill training and designs development. In early 2004, she opened her first retail business, TAPROHM SILK, located at , Street 178 near Khmer National Museum. Taprohm Silk became a member of Artisans Association of Cambodia (AAC, a World Fair Trade Certified Organization) in December, 2004. Taprohm Silk has employed 30 vulnerable people. Among those 88% are women.
Taprohm Silk's Team: To make our products we currently employ twelve permanent staff in the Boeng Tumpun production centre. We also have one trainer/quality controller. Fifteen pieceworkers help us to meet production demands. We do also have one Marketing/Communication Administrator who will help you with the order!!
Production Capacity:
Small Items=5000 pieces
Medium Items=3000 pieces
Large Items=2000 pieces.
These figures indicate maximum production capacity. This estimate does not include time necessary to order or purchase raw materials. This will vary according to each buyer requirements. All orders will be placed in the context of a current production schedule.

Taprohm Silk's Sample Development and Ordering Procedure:
1. New sample designs are delivered to us by hand via email. For email sample designs, please request and include the complete sample specification sheet that we will send you and require to proceed. We will email confirmation of the order. If you do not receive our confirmation, we may not have received the sample order. PLEASE NOTE, IF NO DESIGN SPECIFICATION OR PHYSICAL SAMPLE ARE SUPPLIED, WE CHARGE A FEE $50.00 per new product. This fee is deducted from the eventual large order (100 pieces minimum) of that particular product.
2. When samples are ready, we send them via normal post(at the buyer's expense) or as otherwise specified by the buyer.
3. Quality control: When the buyer receives the sample, please let us know of any changes or comments on quality before placing your order.
4. Ordering: After the buyer has accepted the samples. and/or determined what products are wanted, an order is placed by using an order form and we will reply with a pro formal invoice. This is an informal invoice, sent by e-mail to confirm the details of your order (product names, quantities, colors, Custom requirements, unit FOB price and total costs), and to project our date of completion and shipment. We will ask the client to provide your full delivery address and the telephone communication details. We will also need your country's Customs requirements and brokerage details.
5. Confirmation/Deposit: We ask the buyer to confirm the details of their order via email, and to transfer the initial payment to us. When payment has been received the production begins.
6. Delivery: Our most common system of shipment is airfreight, which is fast and reliable. It is possible to airfreight to any international airport or to your business door within 3 - 14 working days, depending on the shipper and the distance of your business from the airport. It is the responsibility of the buyer to retrieve the goods from that airport, clear them through the Customs and transport them to their business. Or shipping and brokerage companies can assist you with getting your order cleared through Customs and delivered to your business.
Ta Prohm Silk's Terms of Payment:
1. For the first export order, 70% deposit when the order is placed, and 30% within 30 days of the delivery.
2. Subsequent Export Orders, 50% deposit when the order is placed, and 50% within 30 days of the delivery.
3. Clients who use bank-to-bank transfer will incur an additional $30.00 bank fee. Buyer is required to pay bank transfer. This is a flat fee, regardless of the amount of money being transferred.
4. Buyer is required to pay for the shipment fees up front.
