The class takes a long journey to become who they are today. In 2001, with the help of few colleagues, Ieng Sithul started an association to teach young Cambodian who wanted to dance. When he first started there were many children from his neighborhood in the community enrolled but many didn’t make it due to their living condition. However, 24 stayed and made it, they are now the senior of the tro

upe. In 2003 with the support of Cambodian Living Arts (CLA) they continued teaching and performing until today. The class has moved to a few different places due to the force eviction, grow in number of students and for other reason. The troupe now consist of 64 members/students with full support by two dedicated teachers Nop Thyda and Soeur Vuthy they has already toured in UK, Japan, Vietnam, and USA, and is part of CLA’s Plae Pakaa season at the National Museum of Phnom Penh. (The white building, Bassac, is the name of the community that why this troupe name children of bassac, they named after the community)
