After the rain the world doesn’t return to what it was before. Some dreams fall, some disappear, and some transform into something unexpected. In this work, the rain causes the paper planes representing my dreams to fall. They carry the feeling of dreams that could not survive the reality I imagined. Yet their falling is not only an ending; it becomes the source of new growth. The rain therefore becomes both a force of disruption and a force of renewal.
In this work, the transparent butterflies represent the past, memories, and dreams that remain visible but can no longer be held. The paper butterflies represent the present, carrying fragile dreams through a complicated and uncertain reality. The solar butterflies represent a solarpunk dream—a future where technology, humanity, and nature can exist together and create something better.
And the white sphere represents the complexity of reality: tangled, confusing, and difficult to understand. Yet even from within this complexity, nature continues to grow. Small plants emerge from the fallen paper and broken structures, suggesting that hope does not require a perfect world to exist. Sometimes it begins from what has already fallen.
“Where Reality Is Stranger Than My Fallen Dream” is my reflection on what happens when reality becomes different from the future we imagined. After the rain, I don’t see an ending. I see the possibility of growth—the small gleam of hope that survives, transforms, and continues moving toward a new dream.
This painting will be on river gallery from September 5 until November 4 2026 . It’s a group exhibition call AFTER THE RAIN .
