To All Artists

If you’ve been feeling stuck or disconnected from your art, first of all, you’re not alone. Every artist goes through seasons of ebb and flow. Whether it’s burnout, a major life event, or even something wonderful (like a big trip!), any break in your routine can leave you feeling adrift creatively.

Here are three simple steps that have helped me find my way back to your art, and I know they can help you too.

🍋Reconnect with your art (not necessarily by making it). Sometimes, the first step back isn't picking up a brush—it’s just getting close to your art again. Start small. Spend ten minutes looking at your own past work, organizing your digital art files, cleaning up, or framing pieces. The key here is to reconnect with your creations—not scrolling someone else’s. This will naturally start to awaken your creative spirit and remind you of the artist you already are.

👣Take baby steps. Once you’ve rekindled a little spark, ease back in. Don’t overwhelm yourself with huge expectations or long painting marathons. Set aside short, doable chunks of time—maybe just 30 minutes of sketching a day or planning out future paintings. The point is to build consistency without burning yourself out again. Celebrate every small win. You’re building momentum, and that matters more than perfection.

🎉Amp up the consistency with a plan that fits YOU. After you’ve gotten back into the swing of things with baby steps, you can start to grow your consistency and time commitment. Maybe that means painting daily, joining a challenge, or showing up for a class or live demo. Think about what’s worked for you in the past—do you need accountability? A goal to work toward? A supportive community? For me, going live with painting demos helped me reconnect with both my art and my people. Find what lights you up and lean into that.
