Mitumba Art Limited is an arts and crafts company based in Nanyuki in the Laikipia region of Northern Kenya. We specialise in recycling second hand clothes from the local markets – or ‘Mitumba’ – to create hand decorated soft furnishings and other apparel.
Based in a workshop on Lunatic Lane in Nanyuki, our ethos is to provide jobs to local people who otherwise would struggle to find suitable employment. We train and employ artists and craftspeople in our workshop. Our product range includes original and bespoke hand-painted and beaded cushion covers, table runners, table mats, lampshades, cards and beaded jewellery.
We also make bespoke soft furnishings and curtains to order. As well as all of our individually designed products, we sell second hand designer clothing originally purchased from the local markets, which
we have cleaned and repaired to the highest standard.
