A STORY OF PAIN, RESILIENCE, AND A DREAM THAT REFUSES TO DIE 💔
In 2017, Anne Gichemi’s life changed forever. She lost her mother to cancer—the only parent who truly stood by her. Soon after the burial, her world collapsed even more when her father chased her away from home, leaving her homeless, grieving, and alone.
Despite the pain, Anne chose hope.
In 2018, she was awarded a scholarship to pursue a Diploma in Nursing at Outspan Medical College. It felt like God had finally remembered her. She studied with passion, determined to change her life and help others.
But in 2019, the scholarship was terminated, the donor saying they could no longer support her. Once again, Anne was left stranded—emotionally and financially.
In 2020, while heading for her practicals, Anne collapsed. She was rushed to Outspan Hospital, Nyeri, where doctors diagnosed her with a fatal condition—pulmonary embolism. She was admitted to the ICU, fighting for her life. While lying in that hospital bed, fear, trauma, and unanswered questions overwhelmed her. She sank into deep depression and panic attacks even as she battled to survive.
In 2021, she began seeing a psychologist, but the therapy had to be stopped—not because she was healed, but because she could no longer afford it.
From 2022 to 2024, Anne gathered every bit of strength she had left. She took up small jobs, hustled, and sacrificed. Every coin she earned went to school fees and to support her daughter, who joined Grade 10. She denied herself comfort so her child could have hope.
Now, in late 2025, Anne has made the hardest decision—to ask for help.
Her nursing course was meant to take 3½ years, but due to illness, loss, and financial struggles, it has taken 8 painful years. Despite everything, she has not given up.
💔 She has a remaining fee balance of KSh 285,000.
Anne is not asking for pity.
She is asking for a chance to finish what she started.
