Attention:
Mobility in the arts, geographical or otherwise, is often seen as almost a requirement. However, COVID-19 has put to the test this very idea and aspiration. As a small contribution of solidarity in the current health crisis, Mass Art Gallery has postponed its’ April2020 “First Mega Art Exhibition”. On-the- contrary, Mass has joined a global new series entitled “ ” showing extensive images and videos of exhibitions, which can be found in our Google website, https://mass-art-studio.business.site
At the same time, we feel that it is important to continue to evoke global contexts and MasStudio situations that existed before the current crisis and will go on afterwards.
Right now, we are all in this together. As it happens, that means that we are all forced to slow down. In times of immobility and to honour those who are forced to be mobile in order to flee life-threatening circumstances, we shall be digging out some of the great artworks focusing on various states of “Conservation of African heritage".
In the series "Conservation water" we have selected artworks and photographs that probe assumptions of movement in relation to people on the African continent and beyond. In “The passport that does not pass ports” Mass Art Gallery will contribute to the bourgeois myth that globalization has turned everybody into ultra-mobile cosmopolitans.
Best regards
A.M.K
