When MAMA Charity Ngilu learned that teenage mothers and their newborns were being detained at Kitui Referral Hospital over unpaid bills, she didn’t send an aide, she went herself.
Even after clearing all the medical bills and having them released from the wards, security at the main gate had reportedly been ordered to keep the mothers and babies locked in, acting on “ORDERS FROM ABOVE.”
Mama Ngilu walked straight to the gate, personally saw the young mothers and their children set free.
No child should be held hostage to a hospital bill.
No mother should be punished for being poor.
